DEAD: Epson 785 printer free after rebate! OOS!

I have a question, can I do the pricematch and $40 off $200 coupon at the same time in Staples? I am looking for a Pocket PC right now.

It is such as a great deal if Staples can do both.

I ordered this printer for $145 from Dell in early December. I didn't receive it until 2/4/02. Despite Dell's pitiful inventory system, I did get a really good CSR to call Epson and their distributors to find out the ETA for the printer. I think my complaining helped get mine out a few days later, but this printer has been back-ordered at every site, and they are now possibly discontinuing it. I saw if for sale at Office Depot for $179 (or $169) the other day as a close-out model.

It really is an excellent printer for photos, though.

Guess the next best deal is to buy it from Staples or Officemax and apply one of their coupons. Assuming it's in stock there. Is there a new printer coming out, and that's why it's OOS everywhere? It'd be nice if the geniuses at Outpost just took it off their web site... Or are they just trying to generate traffic?

I ordered one from Dell yesterday for $168.50 after some discounts. Unfortunately my print out of hte web page is dated teh day before. Was it pulled before 12/27 or does someone have a print out dated 12/27 that I coul duse to PM with AmexBlue ?

Has anyone verified that the rebate is still valid if you buy the camera and printer from different vendors? The wording on the form kinda sounds like they're expecting you to buy them from the same place at the same time.

Bob, All I can tell you is Call the # on the form. I called two times in January to check before my 1st 785 EXP came in from Dell (on backorder) to make sure it was OK to buy printer and camera at separate times and places and was told YES on both occassions. I called 3 weeks after submitting it and they had my rebate form and said all looked OK. I don't have the check yet, but it has only been about 4 1/2 weeks. I just sent in a second one on Friday for a friend with another digital camera receipt and different store (this one for a friend).

If they told you yes, that's good enough for me.

Now I just have to find another $20 off Dell coupon...

I purchased a camera at one store about 2 months before the printer at Staples, sent the Rebate to Epson (even though the site says no Staples rebates) and got my $100 in less than 5 weeks.
