This deal is about the same price as an HD 4870 512 MB, and the GTX 280 is at least 10-15% faster than that Radeon in nearly every game.

i'm a new customer and i created two orders. the 10 bucks off only worked on my first order, i suggest opening a second account.

It's still among the fastest single-GPU cards out there, if not the fastest (until the new cards come out). How is it not that powerful of a card? Next to a CF/SLI setup or a dual-GPU card, what's better?

The appeal of the card depends a lot on its price, though. For $200 it is an awesome card and I dare anyone to refute that. For $300+, like the price has gone back to though, less expensive cards come awfully close in some games. And then there's the fact that for $300 you could pick up a 4850x2 or a couple of used 4870s that should be significantly faster than the 280.

But I stand firm in my opinion that if anyone gets one of these for $200, they got a hell of a deal.

Yes, this is a ridiculously good deal. I picked up the SSC for $220.99 -$40 coupon I had from a buy.com promotion last month, - $20 MIR + free shipping = $160.99 total price for me =) That's IF it ships.... let's cross our fingers.

PNY GTX 280 for $225.49 (very low stock)
BFG GTX 280 OC2 for $237.99

I pulled the trigger early in the day but I didn't go through with paypal payment. I got anxious so I bought one of those PNY from ebay listing from buy.com. I get a email notice that I can finish the order on the SC EVGA one for $210. I went back to buy.com and finished the order since this is too much of a deal to pass up. So I got on the EVGA SC for $190 after rebate. Waiting for buy.com to cancel my ebay purchase.

Similar story here, got the SSC this morning, but it was canceled through paypal so I had to order PNY through googlecheckout. I'm sending a msg to their support to see if they honor the price of the original SSC order to pay it using googlecheckout. Wish me luck.

Pretty much a whole comp. If it was only psu, then the decision would be much easier.
