Meh, having dealt with buy.com for a long time I knew this backorder BS was gonna happen. I kinda wish they would eventually cancel my order though, since if I do receive the card I'd be compelled to spend another $400 to upgrade my whole system to make it worth while, when I really should be using the money to buy new knives for work.

Worse yet...for those of us that payed with PayPal the money was taken out of our accounts as soon as the order was placed (Saturday morning) and we have to wait for the cancellation before the refund.

I know they just place an authorization and not an actual charge, but those funds are not available to me while buy.com is holding an auth on my credit card. Their inventory system is obviosuly shit and I am done with buy.com for good now. I will continue to buy from newegg from now on.

Buy.com's CS is among the worst e-retailers and I've had my shares of it.
That being said it does not mean it stops me from purchasing from it.
I simply buy from them when the price is right and i'll never buy anything from them that's worth > $2xx.00

Hey you guys, I had ordered the SSC on Saturday morning and I cancelled the order this morning. Well, I just got an "automatic cancel" email from Buy.com which included a $5 gift certificate good for anything else I buy from them. Did you guys get that too?

Yup, original listing had some mistakes. Now the mistake has been corrected (the price). So now we can all go back to their website and order with the correct listing, using their $5 coupon.

Thus this was never a stock issue but a price mistake issue. Why the hell didn't they just come out and say so instead of all this bullshit, keeping our money for a week.

Some early birds did actually get their order though (the non-SSC models at least), so it's more of an inventory issue.

What a terrible way to do business...Horrible business model...You hype up customers for a brief amount of time with a fire sale advertisement...You blow the product(s) out for a couple hours & don't bother to mainstream your real-time inventory availability...This is the 1st step of setting yourself up for failure & you're about to piss off a large number of your customers...

So the 2nd step is you postpone your communications with your customers for 24 - 48 hours...This gives the people who have already given you their money more than enough time to tell everyone they know how poorly your execution is with your lack of communication skills...When you finally get around to sending out these emails, you've already pissed off too many customers to recover from this particular fire sale...You've done yourself a lot more harm than good...Recoverable? Sure, but that's beside the point...

Due to your lack of due diligence to incorporate electronic inventory management, you fail to limit the number of customers that can place online orders for these particular products, therefore, your system accepts & attempts to process any order placed until a manual override is issued to prevent future orders (horrible way to manage an online business)...This is the hope & pray the customers won't leave due to lack of due diligence model...Business 101...Be prepared, be capable & be diligent...all of which appear to have failed miserably in this pathetic fire sale...

I'm surprised that Buy.com is still in business after the number of times they've put themselves in these situations...I can't imagine how many more of these they can survive...I sold every component we use to build our systems & networks for almost 6 years...I've been selling other products & services since, just outside of the industry...I never treat my customers the way you've been treated...I've been successful because I don't hope & pray when I'm approaching a business model or go-to-market strategy...

Bottom line is this...If Buy.com didn't plan to fulfill backorders at the fire sale price, you shouldn't have been able to place the orders...Period...No excuses, no bullshit...If you were able to place an order, which many of you obviously were, it was an act of laziness & lack of diligence on their part without proper planning...No, I'm not very forgiving under these types of circumstances & I don't see any reason to be...

Buy.com, if you're reading, you're lazy & you have a horrible business model...

Order Number 45029xxx

Got the SC Version with Far Cry 2 already included. Nice card had issues because needs 4 power plugs from the PSU but yeah after unhooking a hard drive i was good to go.
....

I ordered the SC and I didn't get no stinkin' Far Cry 2

Neither did I, be happy you got the card, most didn't.

Point taken.

I've had sketchy luck with Buy.com in the past. Most recently with the 24" Monitor deal. I feel sorry for all the folks who didn't get their cards. I know what it's like to get disappointed.

Wow $5 gift certificate which you can't buy anything with. Lame... It's lame attempt to get more customers to shop from buy.com. They should at least give me $20 for holding $400 of my money.

They canceled both of my orders. I thought I should have gotten at least one order. I ordered 1 from buy.com and bought 1 from their ebay listing.

At least I get to leave a negatiive feedback on ebay. I even denied their ebay cancellation so they pay for sold item fees. This can't possibly be a price mistake. They were selling same price on ebay. We should have gotten a replacement. Like different brand GTX 280 that is available in their web site.

$5 gift certificate? Buy.com you generous company you. Seriously I'm not even going to use it considering buy.com is overpriced with crappy customer service.

Don't hold back, tell us how you really feel.

What I do not understand is why some of the cards were delivered and the rest cancelled. Not like it was one type of card that was delivered either. Makes no sense at all. I am starting to wonder if they were looking to boost their cash reserves for a short period or something stupid like that. Not a bad deal, take in over a million dollars in a few hours, leave it in your bank for 5 days then give it back at, what amounts to, no cost....

Hmmm....
