Seems like a great deal on a good quality power supply. Most reviews on Newegg say this is made by Seasonic.

I think the Antec NeoHE, True Power Trio, and the Earthwatt series are built by Seasonic. They aren't rebadged Seasonics. They are Antec designed, built by Seasonic if I remember reading.

Oooh, thanks! This is exactly what I was looking for. The website kept on returning errors when I tried to check out, so I ended up calling and the CSR said they have plenty in stock (for whatever that's worth).

which I think was there when the price was 39.99. It might be worth it to give a call and see if they will give you the 39.99 price and mention that it appeared that the 39.99 price should have been good for another day according to the website.

So how does the EarthWatts compare to the Basiq? For roughly the same dollars (+ shipping from Fry's, + tax from OM) which is the better unit?

The EarthWatts are made by Seasonic and the Basiqs are made by Fortron. I prefer Seasonic more, so I'd choose that. But you really can't go wrong with either.

Earthwatts is Seasonic made and more efficient (80Plus certified). Definitely better.

I just picked up an EarthWatts 430 for this same price about a week ago. I was about to snag this and sell the 430 but I just checked the output. It's exactly the same on both 12v rails as the 430. Meh.

You don't add up each rail's max load to get the total +12V max output. On *any* PSU.

Look at the label. At the bottom of each one it says "+12V1, +12V2 max load: " and a figure. For the 500 it's 408, which is 34A (which is, coincidentally, the same as adding each rail's 17A max output). But for the 430, even though each rail is at the same 17A, the combined max load is 360, or 30A.

Mind you, this is overly complicated as Earthwatts are all actually single-rail anyway. So the 17As don't mean anything -- the 500W has a single 34A +12V rail and the 430 a single 30A +12V rail.

Interesting, I didn't know that. Thanks for clarifying. So I guess this is worth the hassle to upgrade the 430 I just bought after all?
