The dreaded avatar strikes again... Here's a tip for you, "toolman". Your post (especially from a noob here) would go over much better rephrased thusly: Not my cuppa tea. OR Not to my taste. The bile is totally unnecessary.

1.2mm aluminum, slide out mobo try. I challenge anyone to find anything close at twice the price (even before shipping)!!!

. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder - I like it. Is mine on the way? Yessiree Bob! If you want the same but more Lian Li/industrial looking for more money, go to Dealsonic.com and get their version of the Skyhawk server case.

don't bother with the matrix, i have the red one (sister in law has blue, mother in law the black one), and bought the skyhawk the other day to replace it. the matrix is very cheaply made, the side panels are so thin, if you aren't careful you will bend the panels when you put the panel back on. psu died on all 3 of these i got within 3 months

Yeah foolish..., At 14.25 lb shipping weight, you know that has to be flimsy metal for a good sized (17x19x8") steel mid-tower case. Plus anyone should know that you can't get a decent 450 Watt PSU by itself for no 30 dollars...

It's 1.2mm Aluminum, not steel.

In regards to the Dealsonic.com case-- I couldn't get the "5off" coupon to work, but changing the 5 to a 3 brings up a [working] 3 dollar reduction, which at the current price = $21.99 (a buck better than the deal posted at that dealnews stie). In for one. Thanks.

That deal still works. I tried it about a week ago and the case is gorgeous.

Holy hell, that's a Lian-Li in disguise, I swear it!
Grah, now I am utterly tempted to pull the trigger.
This one looks really nice...damn you ATHD!

Yeah, I needed another case and didn't want to spend a lot, so I definately pulled the trigger.

Can someone answer this question for me? Can you put a regular ATX mobo in a server case? What is the difference between a server case and a regular ATX mid case? The dealnews has 2 almost identical cases on sale, and the ATX mid case is $34.99, $10 more! Is there a reason for it?

Avalon,
. foolish and I were talking about the PowMax Matrix case that someone had posted here as an alternative to the Skyhawk. It is steel and has a 14.25lb shipping weight WITH a 450W PSU... One can conclude that the case metal is VERY flimsy.

Fresh,
They mainly call those "server" cases at least partly because they are fairly spartan in amenities and come w/o a PSU (people who build servers like to specify their own PSUs). But I think it was mainly called a server case to justify the original high price (well over $100). This case is really a standard mid-tower but it is a bit deeper than average (19.3") - it may even be able to hold a larger than average mobo if the components on it are laid out in a serendipitous way. It is specified to hold a standard ATX mobo and looks like it could do microATX too with a little inenuity in providing support.
. Could you post links to those two cases from deal news as I can't seem to locate them.

The dealsonic one has a nicer front bezel. I got the dealsonic case over a month ago, it's a great case for the money. as far as cheap aluminum cases go, the skyhawk are the cream of the crop

There are some current deals going on at Directron for HEC Orion power supplies that might be decent and might be around that price, but generally speaking you are correct.

These Skyhawk look good, but earlier ones aren't so great. I have gotten about 5 of the earlier ones and those do not have decent ventilation plus except for one with a secondary drive chassis mounted on the bottom of the case, there is only one "normal" hard drive bay (other 3½" bays, screw holes don't line up for HDD). Also, the older style cases only had options of a fan duct or 60mm fan for exhaust. Oh yeah, the older cases used really thin aluminum - think aluminum flashing (almost).

These new ones look awesome in comparison to the older series. Just haven't found an excuse to get one yet.

32 bucks shipped is excuse enough...

. And yes, some of the other Skyhawk aluminum cases are 1.0mm and 0.8mm which is really too thin for alunimum case use - 0.8mm SECC is the thinnest I consider for steel though I've seen 0.6mm out there.

. Those wimpy cases gave their whole line a black eye and is probably why they had to dump these. Skyhawk had some pretty cool ones with motorized, vertically-sliding doors that once caused me some temptation...

I think dealsonic must be unloading a whole bunch of different styles. i've seen some pics @ Hardocp, and some people get them with 1 intake, some get them with a whole bunch of audio, firewire and usb, etc up front, others have them with just audio and usb. mine has two front intake, both were full open holes with no grill, it had just two usb and mic/audio. the only problem I had was the powersupply bracket. but since it's aluminum that was easily solved. the thickness didn't seem to be an issue, it was plenty strong. I'm definitely happy with it.

There are a couple versions that look similar. They're clearly listed as different. Some have all the jacks in the front, alot more cluttered. The other one doesn't.

Yeah, listed now for $29.99 and $15.99 for shipping.

Good deal for all the folks who got in on this one.

Something funny about my order though. Case weight is 11lb but FedEx tracking says shipment is 27lbs. If true that is a lot of packing material.

Thinking about getting one of these. It comes to $36 shipped for me. For $20 more (incl shipping), I can get the Silver Super-Flower SF-561T2-S at Directron, which comes with 3 windows, places for 2 front 80mm fans, and the ability to use either two 80mm or one 120mm fan in the rear. The Skyhawk only has room for one 80mm in the front and one 80mm in the back. There are fans on the side, but wouldn't that mess up the flow, and if I added my own window, I'd have to drill my own holes in the plexi, which I hear is difficult without cracking it.
Considering people pay $20 alone just for a window kit or new case panel w/ window, wouldn't the Super-Flower be worth $20 more, or is it poorly constructed?

nah, dealsonic shows the same specs and pics, yet some people are getting ones totally different than what they have listed. skyhawk have several different variations on the msr4610.
