i wonder if this version will have a very short subscription period for the antivirus protection? there must be a catch but even so is well worth taking a shot.

The "catch" is pretty obvious. This deal is intended for Semantec channel partners/distributors, not most of us. The company isn't just trying to give away its products to the masses.

There's a better than 50% chance these will be cancelled (or Semantec will at least contact you to verify that you were supposed to receive the offer). So no crying if/when that happens.

I am sure there will be crying.. and people calling up Symantic claiming they should get their free product.

Highly doubtful it's a demo copy, simply Not For Resale. All the NFR stuff I have gotten in the past from various places have been full versions, no demos.

I'm thinkin', (and I rarely do that)

that what better audience to establish a strong client base than PC enthusiast forums?

If us boneheads use and endorse the product, then the non-enthusiasts may be more likely to purchase based on our direction?

Who are Symantec's direct competitors?

I'd think they'd wanna get a jump on them by giving it this audience. (pats himself on the back for completing a lucid thought)

I hope Symantec marketing types are reading this thread.

PS, I'd gladly wear a Symantec t-shirt too.

One can only hope we all get lucky with a freebie! (Nothing suggestive inferred). I wonder if they keep tabs of your email address when you've registered any of their previous products. I'm running Systemworks 2002, and am very happy with it.
