It looks like Staples.com is using a $35 instant savings coupon code for the Peachtree 2003. In order to get this deal as posted with the $50/$200 coupon you might need go to a Staples B&M or try your luck over the telephone as lately the Staples.com order system generally wil not allow you to add $$ coupons on items that already have an instant saving coupon applied to it. What do you guys think?

Peachtree 2003 at Staples.com with instant saving code displayed.

(Update #2Bad new, they raised the price on Microsoft Money 2003 by $10 to $29.99 with $10 MIR

(Update #1) Peachtree Accounting 2003 also has a $30 upgrader MIR inside the box. To qualify you need a old Peachtree or a qualifying competitors products. One of products that qualify is Microsoft Money, which is now selling for $19.99 with a $10 MIR on the box. Now both Peachtree rebates ask for the UPC from the Peachtree box, but [B[if[/b] there are two UPC codes on the box like there was on the Peachtree Accounting 2002 box I bought from Staples the last time they had this free offer, then that wouldn't be a problem and you could end up with $20 and a FREE copy of Microsoft Money 2003. My understanding is that all of the 40x drives can be OCed, but can all of them be flashed to support mt. rainer? Or do we have to look at modle numbers again.

The deals up above are now on Staples.com but as predicted earlier, since the $35 instant rebate is a dollars off coupon code, it won't work with $50 off $200 coupon code. It gives you this error:

Coupon 1

We are sorry. The order total necessary for this coupon is not in your cart. Please remove the coupon code and reapply it after increasing your order to: $399.95

Coupon 2

We are sorry. The order total necessary for this coupon is not in your cart. Please remove the coupon code and reapply it after increasing your order to: $399.95

$399.95?!?! That's an odd coupon rejection message. You may have to call up customer service since:

"Product specific " coupons may be combined with other coupons as long as the purchase requirement of each coupon is met independently. (see definition below)

The $35 instant rebate off the Peachtree software would be considered product specific, yes?

Yes, that is correct and is the policy Staples.com is enforcing. You can use a $50/$200 or other $ coupon and still use the $35 instant, but as they state, you must meet the requirement of each coupon. If you use the $35 instant, you still must purchase an additional amount of merchandise to meet the requirement of that coupon. In this case to se the $50/$200, you must purchase an additional $200. Itlooks like your best bet is to try this at a B&M with a $40/$200 printable that is unless the Staples registers are enforcing the same policy. We will know in a few hours...

Ahh, thanks for clearing that up. I misread the restriction.

Yep. Looks like $40 off $200 is the only hope left.

It looks like they figured out what people were doing on those free Peachtree Accounting deals. They're getting smarter at Staples.

Yeah, it isn't as good as it looked like it would be initially, but still can make a buck.

Just ordered PT 2003 and some .89 erasers to get over $200 then used the $200 - $50 coupon. Add $6.79 VA sales tax and I still end up with about $7 in pocket after $165 MIR. If I can swing the $30 upgrader rebate too, that is just gravy, and judging by how well PT 2002 sold on eBay, there is more there.

The $35 "instant rebate" coupon would NOT work in conjunction with the $50 off one.

Now if OD will just get their #$*^%! site working...

I'm not giving up yet. I'm waiting for the stores to open so I can try my luck there. I'll just wait until the $35 instant savings is taken off the Peachtree Accounting , then i will hand them the $40 off $200 email coupon, we will see what happens then.

....but the real question is will the Staples reabte center now reject your $165 MIR because of the use of a coupon. Staples considers a coupon added to an order a promotion and the Staples.com phone CSRs have been threatening this type of action for months now. In the past, thispolicy has not been enforceed, but neither had the instant saving offer either. Are you wiling to take a chance with a $165.00 MIR? If you answer, yes, IMO you should forget about the $30 Upgrader rebate for a couple of weeks and you should send a copy of the UPC to the Staples $165 MIR. If the Staples $165 MIR rebate is approverd then you can remove the UPC and send in the upgrader rebate. At least this way you will have some time to return the Peachtree if the rebate is rejected. :Q

There nothing on the rebate form that says you cannot use a coupon with a rebate. I'm using the coupon on my total order not just on the Peachtree Accounting app. what are they going to do cancell every rebate on my order because I used a coupon they email to me to use on my order. The other item with instant savings without codes, so I wouldn't get to paranoid.

Since I'm going to the store to do the deal, I'm going to add the Philips 100 pack CDRs for $29.99 and have Staples price match the Best Buy price of $19 then send in the $20 Staples rebate and (maybe) the $20 mfg rebate on the Philips CDR label (both ask for the original UPC). That will help make up for having to use a $40 off $200 coupon instead of the $50 off $200 coupon.

Not paranoid, just being safe. Despite yours and other interpretations, Staples has the final say and they have been warning for months that they would start rejecting rebates because of the use of coupons. The instant $35 coupon is tied to the offer so they will "overlook" that code. However, the rebate form also clearly states "Offer not valid with any other rebates, offers or promotions" and Staples certainly considers a $$ coupon a promotion. I am not saying that they will reject your rebate, but it is better to send a copy of the UPC to the Staples rebate and wait to see if it gets rejected because of the use of a coupon. At least this way you will still have time to return the product to Stapels for a refund. If they reject the rebate because of a UPC copy, you will still have the original to submit. We have already seen that they started enforcing other promosed policies this wekend so do you want to take a chance with such a large rebate? If you remove the UPC and your rebate is rejected because of the use of a coupon then you are SOL as Staples has covered themselves in their rebate TOS.

FYI - Staples B&M registers will ring the Peachtree at $199.99 and apply the $35 IR automatically right below it . They have been doing this for some time now for items with an IR. The question is have the B&M registers been programmed to enforce the same policy as Stapels.com is now enforcing. If so, you will end up right back where you started. If this is the case, it is better to order from Staples.com and use the $50/$200 and forget about the $35 IR. At least the extra $15 should cover the sales tax. You will not have this option at the B&M since the $35 IR is added immediately and cannot be removed by the cashier.

We some good news at least. I just returned from Staples across the street with my Peachtree 2003 , Home Design Suite, Office Design Suite titles. I was able to use my $400/$200 coupon with no trouble. Total after tax and coupon was 169.69 and I will hopefully get back $205 in MIRs from Staples and another $30 MIR from Peachtree.

On a sad note, the Peachtree 2003 does not have the two UPCs like the 2002 so you will have to send a copy to the Staples rebate if you want to send in the $30 upgrader rebate. As posted earlier I plan on sending acopy to the Staples $165 rebate anyway since I suspect that the rebate might get rejected for the use of a coupon and I want to be able to return the Peachtree if it does.

I used a 16 digit $40/$200 Platinum Rewards coupon sent to to me a couple of weeks ago with my Rewards check.

Also, don't forget, most Staples B&Ms have been opening early the past week for the back to school crowd so go early. The local B&Ms here opened at 10:00 am today and will close at 7:00pm

Edt: Forgot to mention that it looks like all the new Staples rebates are going to Miami FL instead on McAllen TX. I think it is still the same Parago processing group, but this just add more uncertainty into these offers.

Getreal, don't you have to open the software to get the serial number from the peachtree. Can you get a return then, if the rebate didn't go through?

Very Good Point! :Q The rebate does ask for the S/N so you will have to open the box. Staples will not accept opened software for refunds. I purchased with the AMEX/ Delta Skymiles Platinum card so I think I am ok as this card has AMEX Return Protection. I just need to call AMEX and verify that software is covered under that program before I open the box.
