Good question.
Yes, this makes me wonder what their BACKUP policy is?
Which server are you on?
I'm not with HostPC right now. I've got an account with a different host but every once in a while things go down. I wasn't worried about my existing mail staying put, just worried that there'd be some mail I don't get. Most of the times that the domain becomes unreachable, the mail will eventually trickle in at a later date, but not always. Sometimes some emails never make it to my account. So I'm not sure that the backup policy would really answer my question (although it's a good question on its own).
Currently my solution is to use a very stable forwarding domain to fwrd all my mail. Most of my mail is addressed to that fwd, but it's automatically rerouted to: my personal hosted domain's IMAP account, to a free ISP email account AND to my RoadRunner account. That way if my personal domain doesn't get something, I've got 2 backups. (and sometimes the free ISP craps out as well)
And then for the most uber-important emails, I just give out my Road Runner address (because even the stable forwarding service that I use has gone down 1 or 2 times in the last few years) and so far (knock on wood) the RoadRunner account has never gone down and is still pretty free of spam.
I'd like to stop checking three email accounts and just rely on one. I don't just rely on the RR account because I don't want it to be full of spam, and I like using my own domain name because I can make up however many email addresses that I want (bestbuy@mydomain.com,
FW@mydomain.com etc) but since I can't 100% rely on my personal domain to get 100% of emails 100% of the time, I'm stuck using this primitive multi-email-safety-net system.
So, is it safe to assume that you do NOT use your HostPC account for ALL of your email?
Thanks RM
