I think I know how ya configure to get the $724 laptop. I called staples and it doesnt work. I configured with 256 ram, 6cell bat, and have the price at



$974( with 230 and 30 with freeship coupon, this price includes $75 shipping)
-$150(Free ram coupon, only for 512 ram so cant apple it ...so the CSR said. If ya got it ya lucky)

So is this how ya configured and calculated your final price? IF it is please post to confirm. Then it would be "sizzling"

Thanks Synder21, The $30 bucks coupon should also have taken off the 75buck shipping but it didnt. So I called Staples, and CSR says, "system down try again tommorow." I guess she could be lying, coz ya guys just did it too.

Anyway try calling in to try getting the 30 off 150 coupon that also takes off 75 shipping. Its better then the 50 coupon. a b l e s h o p p e r s . c o m
If ya get free shipping in too, the total should be 974-75-100 = $800(IF ya get the free shipping that is)


For ppl who config the 512 ram... remember to get your 150 dollars coupon added to, through CSR. Then your price should come up the same.



Anyway so the lowest possible right now is 954-100(MIR) = which would come up to $854 which the original poster had.
I would label it hot as it has 516 ram and 14"screen, which is better then what dell offers, with a smaller 12" TFT and 256 ram.





Personally I would wait for a 500 buck laptop/pc... which I predict would be available sometime end of this year. With better graphic and sound card that is.

taserT, I didn't opt for the CDRW/DVD drive. If something needs to be burned, just do it on your desktop burner. To me it's not worth 100 bones for CD burning capability.

Pro: you'll be able to burn CDs on your laptop
Con: you will have spent $100 more than if you opted for just the DVD-ROM.

Some did it online without the coupon, then called into Staples. By doing this, they were able to get the free luggage or B&W TV because they still had 1 of the coupon slots available to use during checkout. I just ordered mine in the store, so I'm not sure what the details are for online orders this time around.

I have spent three hours at the store, called into the specific sales division and etc.
THE PICTURE THEY DISPLAY IS NOT THE UNIT YOU WILL GET!!!!!

basically HP offers two platforms the 14 inch TFT standard celeron base. and the 15.1 TFT multimedia/firewire base (which is used for PIII and celerons) THEY DO NOT manufacture/assemble/make/produce (do you get it) the 14 TFT with the multimedia/firewire base you see in the photo

Some of the original purchasers SOMEHOW (I am not exactly sure) got the unit under the code 478514 to have a 15.1 inch screen but I have no clue how. The sku is the ONLY SKU that the 230 coupon works for. As of right now the sku 478514 is limited to the 14.1 TFT which means you WILL GET THE NON multimedia base. As someone pointed out you will only get a similar model to the ZT1130. It will have NO FIRWIRE, IT will have NO external CD controls as pictured. It WILL have s-vhs out. If you go to circuitcity and look at a ZT1130 that is the CASE/Screen you will get.

NOW THE GOOD NEWS....My local manager allowed me to configure a ZT1000 based celeron computer (available under the 1.13 celeron sku number 479870) I thus was able to get the multimedia base and 15.1 TFT....BUT THIS WILL REQUIRE THE LOCAL MANAGER TO OVERRIDE and use the coupon code for 230 bucks on a nonvalid sku. I was able to do this because he figured I was buying the ZT1000 celron based laptop. He also had to override enter the 150 ram discount.

Note the 75 shipping fee can also be removed buy your local manager but again it will be an overide by HIM only. the laptop is drop shipped by HP and hence the shipping is added to the base sku price NOT AFTER. Basically the manager will have to enter it as a bogus coupon ontop of your 30 off 150 with free shipping. Or use the 50 off 500 and whine. Or purchase the two year service plan for 199 get him to deduct free shipping and you can cancel the service plan for NO FEE (youwill be credited the 199) WITHIN 30 Days

Lastly in the state of Pennsylvania if you buy today you will get your tax back under staples 14 day pricematch since next week is tax free computer week in Pennsylvania (starts feb 17-24)
