I got in on this the last time and I'm very happy with it. I do have a semi noticable dead pixel area but its not driven me nuts yet. I don't know about dvi quality since I'm still running a gf3 ti200 analog. It does just fine in JediKnight2 as far as fps games go and its been great in rts/rpg type games. Well, freelancer was a bit blurry in a few places.

Mine came with drivercd/manual, analog cable and dvi cable and yes it can switch between the two inputs via button on the front. For the price its a damn good monitor. I sure don't miss my old 17'' crt.

I've been hunting for a good LCD for my daughter in college. An absolute priority is good text quality. I've been disappointed with the cheap LCDs (returned a 17" Sylvania). The more expensive LCDs are better but not great. So hear are my Dell Small Business choices:

$404/tax - Dell Ultrasharp 1800 FP - Analog, DVI, 30ms - Some threads mentioned fuzzy text.

$452/tax - NEC 1760NX - Analog, DVI, 16ms - Good reviews, text looks good, but expensive

$401/tax - Sharp LL-T17A3B - analog, 20ms - Recent editors choice.

What to do, what to do?

Happened to me when I first got it.. then I realized I was not running it at native resolution .. once I did that .. the text was razor sharp .. very nice monitor ..

You should be fine, considering SC4 is already laggy

Seriously, yeah, I think RTS should be fine with 30ms response. It justs gets gritty when you scroll around the screen REALLY fast, but if you use the in-game "mini map" a lot, the difference is not that noticable. And with FPS games, the "gritty-ness" is tolerable (depends on person), but not all crispy and fast like playing on a CRT.

I'm currently running 1024 x 768, but expect to step up to 1280 x 1024 since that is the native resolution of the 18 incher.

i have hte 1800FP, with DVI, text is absolutely lovely. i'm talking razor sharp. tested on both a GF2Ultra and Radeon 9700, dvi on both. i don't know who said fuzzy text, everybody is different. but i'm an attorney, so i'm looking at documents all freakin day, and it is easy on the eyes. also, i haven't heard 30ms, when i bought it talk was of 25ms. somebody in another forum did tests on this monitor, and ghosting was minimal compared to other dell LCD's.

PotHead, the problem with the 19"s is major major ghosting. the best ones for dell LCD's were the 20" and 18" in regards to ghosting.
