Review Highlights...

I really stress tested this LCD with every fast program, video, or animation that I could find and I saw basically no ghosting. I watched multiple fast scene DVDs such as the lobby scene in The Matrix, and a few scenes from LOTR. I also did other things like watch some DiVX videos and played some UT2K3, CS, DOD, Q3 and BF1942.

The "NO GHOSTING" part should be standing out by now...

So, if you're willing to pay the $750-850 for a display, and you're looking for an LCD. I can tell you that you will NOT be displeased with this great display. And on a last note, look for more LCD reviews from Maximum OC! As they come in, I'll be sure to post them! LCDs are great and I demand on letting the world know!

So, I guess if your willing to pay 382 a pop then... Well...

Hope this helps?

Fixed review link.

This is a great monitor. Got it a few months back when it was $451 after 25% off /coupons. I've hooked it up as the 2nd monitor w/ my Dell 1626HT 21" CRT. I enjoy watching DVD w/ it. Really surprised that the price is still going down. Dell probably is coming out with a newer model and getting rid of this.

Kid is not mine, my nieces. Just wanted to show good it looks. Haven't really tried out playing games with it.

Just wanted to confirm the monitor is 25ms and not 30ms as listed in the DELL specs.

I have one, cleartype works great....text is SHARP. When I use this for a while then go to my other computer with a CRT I can't stand it.

1280x1024 native resolution. Try this page to set your cleartype up :

Microsoft Cleartype Tuner

I use the DVI connector and had to pick the BGR version for best results.

I've played many games on this LCD, and I've never noticed any graphics problems at all.

Back to the DVI/Analog question. Depending on the monitors response time DVI may or may not have any noticable improvement. I'm running a NEC 1880SX and it's currently analog and there is no ghosting with anything. Longer response time, more need for DVI.

If you used it, rather than focusing on specs (Well, having a 5ms better response time REALLLY WILL allow me to frag more elite haXor dudez...yeah, right), you'd realize that for the money, it really can't be beaten.

Not a direct flame, but a general statement. I mean, really, other than just to have a "who's dick is bigger" contest, who REALLY needs the absolute piece of a given type of equipment. Sure, it's nice, but if that's all you worry about then you are either made of money or you have no life and are very poor from all the bleeding edge hardware you buy.

I got in on the last deal on this monitor and can verify that this thing is sweet. Absolutely sharp and brilliant with no ghosting at all.

I think I found the solution to the font problems some were having. Initially, I was running this on an analog output and experienced no problems at all with the fonts. Then, I upgraded my video card to an 8500 with DVI output and immediately started experiencing the red hues. I played around with it for a while and finally discovered the key for me was to turn clear type off in XP, then go to the MS cleartype tuning site and turn it back on with their program. After doing that, my fonts are sharp and clear, and the red went away. Simple solution, but effective. Also, I've read of others using the BRG settings, but mine had sharper fonts using the RGB settings. My old tired eyes won't take the tiny size of the native resolution of this monitor, but I expereince no problems at all running at 1024X768 with a video card refresh setting of 75hz. Not sure if it actually runs at 75hz, because I've read that the DVI is automatically set at 60hz, but any setting less than 75hz looks fuzzy, so it's doing something to improve the output. Anyways, hopefully some of you will get in on this outstanding deal and this info might prove helpful.

Don't give up hope. I ordered mine at 11:00 CDT on the 10th. It originally showed up with a ship date of the 16th, but by 2:00 p.m. CDT it had changed to "shipped".

It is showing a delivery estimate of 4/16 to 4/18, but I don't have a tracking number yet. If it shipped from Austin, it should be here in Alabama in two days, but if it is coming from the West Coast it could take a week.

Dude, I'm getting a Dell 18" UltraSharp LCD!

This morning i STILL didn't have a confirmation, (probably cuz i'm from CANADA) so i phoned up one of those Dell interns I see on TV (didn't get the cute girl, d'oh) but he created me a customer account & transferred my order over, coupon & all, no questions asked... woohoo!

By the time I finish my meeting at work it had better have shipped like Meganerd's! or else I'll scowl!!

Now the only question is: Should I order a 2nd for ultra-geek dual display?? choices choice!!

(edit) Holy cow, got a tracking number: it showed up in Nashville last night and is on the truck now in Huntsville! It won't be left without a signature most likely, but maybe I can go get it at UPS tonight when the truck makes it back to base camp.
