When did Dell start charging tax? Still, great deal. I paid $75 for a 256MB Jumpdrive Ultra a year ago or so.

I'm looking for an external backup solution to our server here in the office. Are these drives reliable for that or would I be better off looking towards an external hard drive. Just need to backup the database file everyday.

Something tells me that you don't want to have the database stored on this sort of thing, regardless of 'reliability'. Just a thought.

Which one is a better Lexar JumpDrive Sport or SanDisk Cruzer Mini

Well, the cruzer mini (what I have now) is half the thickness so it doesn't block the siamesed port. However it's caps don't have a way to really stay on. But it comes with three of them. The Jumpdrive sport can probably take more physical abuse given it's thicker housing and rubber tire. Personally, I'm quite happy with my 512MB Cruzer Mini.

It's so easy for these things to fall out.

On the Cruzer Mini, they do. On the Jumpdrive Sport, it's a wrap around unit. It doesn't fall out very easily, it's more like taking a pill out of a blister pack. Both are good designs.

FYI, my friend said his email said it would ship on January 5th!!! I checked mine, and it says "Backordered". (Mine was delayed a day cuz of Credit Card Issues.) Anyways, this is NOT good, because the rebate has to be within 30 days of purchase date.

AND to top this all off, my "mp3 player expansion" already shipped from Amazon.

I gotta call Dell tomorrow, but I suggest you all check the expected shipping date for rebate purposes.

Like others here I was concerned about the shipping date and the rebate (within 30 days of purchase). After emailing Dell, and dealing with the auto-alwayswrong-reply, I have an email that says Dell will refund the $20 if the rebate doesn't work/is denied.

So no matter what you can get the rebate *<|8)
