It looks like Rocksmith is a download and they will send you a key. The RealTone cable will be shipped separately.

The cable normally goes for around $30 on ebay. The game is currently on sale for $10 on Steam. This deal is a savings of around 50% off.

Interesting. Thanks! I've been kicking around trying to learn to play basic stuff and for $20 I'll give it a shot. I'll pick up a cheap guitar from craigslist now.

I've read Rocksmith helps keep things interesting while learning to play.

For some reason I didn't get an email confirming my order and I don't see the order in my order history. It does however show up when entering my order number and password. I also received a paypal receipt. Then again their site is acting flaky for me.

Edit: I finally received an email order confirmation. It comes with a steam key. I wonder if it is a standalone key or if it is also registered with my uplay account? I already have a copy and want to sale the spare key.

I used the code on steam. In the details for the game on steam it does say "Incorporates 3rd-party DRM: Uplay." So not sure what more I'll have to do. I don't show anything linked to my uplay account (probably because I've never used it)."

That's good it doesn't show in Uplay. The game will probably ask you to sign up for the 60 day challenge. http://rocksmith.ubi.com/rocksmith/en-US/60-day-challenge/index.aspx

I think you have to log in to the above link for it to keep track of your progress. It's kind of flaky though.

They say 1-3 weeks for the cable to be shipped.

Shark, it says this in my confirm/code email: "*Note: There is no need to enter the Activation Key unless instructed otherwise. The key is already activated to the Uplay account you&#8217;ve used for this purchase." So it is probably locked to your uplay account.

I saw the same thing in my email and that is why I asked. Perhaps it's a generic message sent in every email. Either way I did send them a message asking if it is tied to my account.

I saw that too but there is nothing tied to my uplay account. I've never added any games to it and there still aren't any showing. I've added it in steam (which also says it uses uplay) but I'm waiting to install it. I don't have a guitar yet anyway.

It won't do anything with Uplay until you install and run it for the first time. Uplay is required, but once you set it up, it doesn't bother you any more aside from your account name that you can set up multiple people to play the game with their own records and progress.

my cable shipped yesterday. I think it was originally shipping via donkey as the ETA was next wednesday the 6th but then ups updated that to this thursday. Good deal for 20 bones.
