So they already seem to be misbilling me. The initial e-mail they sent me has 500 text messages for $8/mo listed, and I sure as hell didn't sign up for that.

Hahaha, yea, Sprint, I used to have them. I left them only because they misbilled me consistently every other month for about 10 months, after which I told them to shove it and went with US Cellular, another CDMA carrier (that actually uses Sprints towers)

And don't forget the patented Sprint term "Mystery Minutes". They're included in every bill!

According to sprint, you are responsible for all 'special offers' they put on your plan, even without your concent, because they always include a free period, but you must cancel these offers before they lapse into the billing cycle for which they are no longer free (usually one month)

I'm not joking, read their fine print. Amung the shadiest ****** I've ever witnessed.

If anybody here has the MM-8300 please tell me where in the phone you went to unlock it. Mine came pre-activated, but there is no dialog box on the phone to input my password to unlock it. Thus the only people I can call are customer service and I don't have time tonight to try to find one of them that knows how to unlock the phone.

Yep, good until end of June according to the fine print. We'll see, they may extend it.

when do they assign us a #? do they automatically assign a # to the area code that the zip code we provided is contained within, or will we then get to choose our area code?

I'm concerned because i'll be taking up residency in another area code in a couple months for a period of 2 years (about the term of the agreement), and i dont want an area code # assigned to my current billing address but to the one i will be living at in a few months, which I dont what that will be yet.

help!

Yes it gets assigned to that zip code. In my situation I was lucky because I wanted the area code to be back at home so I just used my parents' address. I'm not sure what to do in your situation other than live with it.

If anyone knows a way to get out a 2 year Sprint contract please PM me.

Use lots and lots of roaming.

1) Make sure you get unlimited roaming. Then set your phone to roam only. It'll take like 3 months and if they get pissed off at you, they'll cancel the contract.

2) Say you're moving to an area that doesn't get coverage (look at their covereage map). This does work, but I think they send you the final bill at that location, you might be able to pay it online or something, or maybe ask to receive it at your house.

Do you guys get unlimited text with this plan?

No, though they do conveniently sign you up for 500 messages at $8/mo without telling you. It is free for the first month and the CS rep set it to auto-cancel the day before I'd have to pay so I do get my 500 texts for free this month.

All it takes is an angry phone call, and they waive all the fees, and even throw in other freebies.

They've done this to me in the past, I raised hell, and no problems since. (crosses fingers).

I never once heard of or saw the Out of Area Travel Rate thing.
Please keep us posted...this could become pretty significant for me this summer.

by out of area does that imply out of the central area that the phone is based (the area code) or out of the sprint network
