I've had Sprint for about 3 years now and they've been fairly reliable. In the end, there is no 'best carrier. It all depends on where you live.

Word of advice... Don't get the Samsung 880 phone. It's small and has nice features but the call quality is *horrible* because it picks up so much background noise from the other side. Also, it plays through the speaker and headset about 50% of the time I use it. I'm on my 2nd phone and both did the exact same thing. I did some searching on those problems and found I'm not alone. I need to ditch this POS and pick another phone that's similar in size/features.

Yeah, looks like they finally killed the backdoor. You can always enter 'first.last@sprint.com' as the email address to check plans and phones (and your order might even go through with this if they don't care), but it's a little more risky that way.

Hmmmm. I guess I'm going to have to cancel my service, port my number to a PrePaid Wireless Carrier, and then sign up for the SERO plan later.

Does anyone know how long after you cancel with Sprint when you can sign up with Sprint again? Is there a minimum wait period or not?

Link just worked for me.
I'm switching from T-mobile $45 to Sprint $30/mo.
PS I was (cough, cough) forced to use the most common name in the english language b4 this would work.

Here is an email I got from Sprint.

Thank you for emailing us.

Yes, you can switch your service back to us immediately if you are not
happy with the new service provider.

Have a great day.

Refer someone to Sprint and get $25. Dial #REF or visit a store for

So, after I successfully transfer to another carrier,
if for some reason I don't like the other carrier
(i.e. Reception is no good in my home, too many
dropped calls, etc.) I can switch back to Sprint PCS
immediately if I wanted to?

Another carrier offers 30 day refund if I don't like
the service, so it is low risk for me. I was just not
happy not getting such nice deals from Sprint that was
being offered to only new customers. So I am going to
take an offer from another carrier that offers nice
deals only to new customers.

i have a friend who works for sprint corporate.....used his e-mail address, and he got 25.00 for me signing up. This will only work once a year per sprint employee, but if you work for sprint, it may be worth it to get someone here to sign up with your employee number

*update*

I got my phone, and got an e-mail from their customer service asking me what the employee email was for the person who refered me. I told them I was never asked for an employee e-mail* and that I thought it was just a promo deal they had going on. (*I signed up before u had to put in a fake or any sort of e-mail) They e-mailed me back saying that reguardless of how i got the deal that I was welcomed to sprint. So it appears I will get the deal even tho I wasn't technically refered by an employee. I havn't activated my phone, been gone for the holidays, but I still have about a week to try it out and still have enough time to send it back and get my money back if I decide I dont want it. They have a 14 day satasfaction thing.

Nice.

Let us know if the Sprint Vision service is truly unlimited.

Make sure to register on Sprint's website, so you can log on and check your plan details (should tell you if Vision is unlimited).

I will be signing up with Cingular Pay as you go, porting my number, and cancelling with Sprint soon. Then I will try switching back to Sprint, I'll post details of my adventure.

Sprint Vision is unlimited, it's on my plan when I login to sprint.com. Awesome deal, my monthly service will be just shy of $35/mo. after taxes and fees. So far reception and voice quality have been great in the ATL too. Hope it stays that way, I think the merger with Nextel will make Sprint a strong player.

As stated, PM me for my work email and you can get the referral deal without worrying about sketchy details. I'd simply post it here but I'd prefer not to get spammed at work

ok, well i activated my phone. did a few calls, and some misc other stuff. Went to log on to sprint.com to see what my plan looked like (as suggested by Edwood) and I was annoyed to find out they say my monthly bill is gonna be $45. The only thing i added on was text messages which was $8 so it should be 38+misc fees (which wouldn't add up to 45). So I did more searching around, turns out they wanted to charge me for PCS vision and for Nights and weekends. Plus they are charing me activation which was supposed to be free as well was vision and nights/weekends. i'm gonna cancel before its too late. I'll just pay for whatever i used (like 10 min of talktime) as per their Satasfaction agreement.

>edit<
ah wait, i was wrong. the 45 wasn't counting taxes and surcharges. how do u like that crap? Taxes and surcharges are 9.85 so that puts me at a monthly payment of ~$55.

but I think this might have partly been due the idiot in customer service when i asked to make sure PCS vision was really free. he like added it on which is why I think i'm getting charged for it. Reguardless, i'm done with this. I called cingular today and their CS person actually spoke english and was nice. i'm going cingular.

SWEET! i just received my phone today....samsung a840....i had to make a call to customer service to get my old number from cingular to work, but it only took a 2 minute call and an hour of waiting for the service to switch phones. For anyone interested, the a840 seems to be a pretty good phone. The camera is not too great, but i was not expecting it to be. The voice dialing works amazingly better than my sonyericsson, and you can navigate through menus and write text messages with voice!!!! way faster than typing it in, and it allows t9 recognition where you can switch similar words with one key. Speakerphone is plenty loud, and the sound quality of the regular earpiece is solid. I admit, i'm happy. Also, my bill is going to be 35.78 including all taxes. SWEET!!!! Thanks for the hot deal!

Does the Unlimited Sprint Vision last forever, or will it automatically "expire" in 12 or 24 months? I've heard complaints about people losing "Unlimited" features after a year or so.

Also, is this deal including Vision, Power Vision (EV-DO), or both?

Anyone get a phone with Sprint POWER Vision (EV-DO)? Like the Samsung A900 or PPC-6700? I have heard horror stories of people losing Grand Fathered features like unlimited Sprint Vision when buying a new phone and activating it (not switching plans, just phones).

If so, I may have to skip the Treo 650 and get the Samsung A900 or PPC-6700 so that the plan included unlimited POWER Vision, and not the regular Vision.

Supposedly it's good until June from what I've read elsewhere. Sprint is really pushing for new activations.

The deal's even better now btw, they've returned the LG PM-225 camera phone to the list of free phones available with the plan. This is a very nice little phone, my wife loves it so far.
We just got our first bill and it was exactly as promised, 500 min. for $30/mo, unlimited web and picture mail etc. Great plan.
