It seems like this is only a good deal if you live by yourself. If you have roommates or a family, or even another computer at your house -- it kinda defeats the purpose cuz only one computer would have broadband (assuming it would replace your current internet service)-- otherwise tethering is the way to go (though i don't think there are any rev A phones out yet)

This is now incorrect with the update for the mogul released this month Mogul 6800 is now the only phone with Rev. A and working real gps. (that I know off) Of course this basically means your upload is doubled and that's about it

Also should be noted that you can have pick 3 added to your plan through retentions.. I would refer you to howardforums - sprint - sero forum for discussions on this..

I have no advice for you maximusfarticus I like the mogul it's what I have.. you should try asking on howard if no one knows here..

Next, battery life is important. If I have to worry about my charge before I get home from work, I don't want it. A couple days charge would be great.

Right now, I'm thinking either Pearl, Moto Q9c (love the WM6), and Centro.

What do you guys recommend?

I have the Q9C for the last four months and no problem (performance speaking). I use the data/internet a lot so every night, I have to recharge the battery. I heard that the Centro is not that great in battery either. Heck, not sure any battery can handle the amount of internet/data that I am using (2-3 hours or more).

IIRC, if you have the Pearl, or any "Blackberry" phones, you will have to pay data plan on top of the $30 SERO.

Can anyone confirm that using a random email from sprint's news bulletins works? I was under the impression that the sprint employee had to confirm you to get this deal.

yes, it works. I pulled one from the writer of an article on their PR page. I've had the plan for 2-3 months now.

The Samsung ACE is Rev A, and is also a world phone (has SIM slot). Similar form function as a Q

If I try to purchase a Pearl, the website requires that I add a Blackberry data plan to my order to continue. The least expensive one is $30, which would make the total monthly charge $60.

edit: Reading on FW, it looks like you have to order SERO over the phone to get it (possibly) without the data plan. You then need to load Opera and some other programs in order to use the data service included with SERO.

Just a silly question:

If I wanted to use my phone to connect to internet on my laptop, would this plan work? or would I have to pay for data plan? sorry if it has been answered earlier.

Well after 1 1/2 hours and speaking to two continents worth of folks. I just called *2 and asked for member retention to meet or beat SERO...

They did:

1000 minutes shared planned between two phones (no shared plan fee)
Unlimited: Text, Data, and Sprint mobile to mobile
nights/weekends 7pm
with a 2 year commitment
no additional fee except insurance for the phones (my choice you don't have to)
50 dollars (ten less than SERO 500 for two)

This a good choice if you 1. Don't want to lose your number 2. Are planning on using this as a shared plan.

You are lucky. I've tried and they won't offer anything close to this.

I guess we'll quite and go to AT&T for a couple of years and consider coming back afterwards.

Existing customers:
-Port your current phone number to a pre-paid company like Virgin Mobile, then port it back to Sprint when you sign up for SERO. You can buy a Virgin phone at Target for $10.

Thats what they officially say but I have not heard of anyone getting terminated as long as they don't abuse it.

Nope, I just tried to get a new Pearl with new account <via Sprint SERO website> and it required me to have a BB Data Service Pack (at least $30 extra). So I stand by my statement.

To get on sero you have to go via the webpage or order over the phone right? No way of doing it from one of the B&M stores?

Can I port my verizon number after already signing up for Sero? I want to try sprint before I totally drop verizon. So if I place the order for sero now and let them assign me a number. Then decide I like sprint, can I then port my verizon number?

If I sign up for this and get a cheap phone, can I easily buy a better phone elsewhere and use it?

yes. that is what I did. Even the same carrier-wise (from Verizon to Sprint).

I actually took advantage of this deal over a year ago and I must say that so far, I LOVE SPRINT! I live in California and it doesn't matter if I'm driving out of state or in a big building...I still get reception. Sprint has unlimied roaming and unlimited internet, so it's so convenient for me to look something up if I need to, or roam if my Sprint signal is weak.

They also have no big overages in case you go over your minutes. Overall, great plan. I think I should work for Sprint. =)

I placed my sero order(blackberry curve) yesterday. I checked back today and it says part of my order is on back order, I am assuming the curve. Anybody knwo how long it will be on backorder? Any way to convince them to let me buy the phone in store somewhere and still sue the sero plan?
