Finally got my phone. Been playing with it for half a day.
It's a cool phone, but after all, the basic functions of the phones is what's important. No brainer. All the cool extra features is like a toy, doesn't hurt to have.
I took 3 calls to Sprint, to get picturemail work, and I was told that I might get charged for it, but the rep left a note saying that it's part of plan and if I get charged to credit it to my account, we'll see in a month.
Service seems fine in my home area.
Thanks for the deal!

Edited:
CompUSA deal seems sweet, it just sucks I already bought my A900 for $200.
$100 difference is a lot. Oh well, at least I got a sweet service plan

Anybody gotten CompUSA employee to sign them up with the SERO plan?

What about Sprint price matching the CompUSA price?

Those of you who did the plan at a non-Sprint retailer (e.g., BB, etc.)...did you deal w/cell phone clerk or customer service desk when you tried to get the sero plan?

Went to the Sprint store where they agreed to PM the Compusa price, but they would not sign me up for the SERO plan. They said that SERO was online only.

EDIT: Called Sprint directly, but they would not price match the CompUSA price.

That's quite a deal with unlimited data. I'd be all over it if I hadn't been spoiled with my Motorola MPx220. I can't imagine going back to a phone that didn't sync with Outlook.

I had no trouble at all getting the plan, they knew exactly what I was talking about. Also, if you want to get the PPC-6700 with the SERO plans, just go into a Sprint store, buy one and activate on their cheapest plan, then call this number and switch the plan over. Very short wait time compared to calling regular Sprint Customer Service and they didn't even ask me for Sprint employee's verification.

Hope this helps someone!

anywhere to order an a900 for cheap.

The SERO 500 states

- Unlimited email and instant messaging - AOL, MSN and Yahoo

Now, is that web based or client application?
I've tried to use application and it's asking me to buy. Just curious to what other people have experienced.

Also, does anyone know. When I was using web based aim, each time someone sent me an IM, I would also get a notification txt message on my phone. Stored in my txt messages. Is it free or 10 cents? For every time someone ims me I get a txt, that can be kinda expensive if its being charged for and I couldn't find an option to disable it.

Thanks

Can someone clarify this? That doesn't seem right...

Also, did you guys have problems getting all the listed features even when you signed up online using their forms?

Whenever I try to use the AIM app on my A900 it says, "We're sorry this item is unavailable." When I use the web-based one it uses up text messages at 10 cents each as far as I can tell. Kind of misleading, at least for my phone.

There's been a lot of talk about the Samsung MM-A920 and how hard it is to get and expensive...

MM-A920 for $-.01!
I make no claim for this...just trolling the airwaves and saw this...don't know anything about it or make any claims...
YMMV !!!
Does that clear it up?

Personal observation/reflection...at cNet, the A920 suffers on the ratings until you read the users comments and they "wax-on" effusively, while cNet applies the single "wax-off" comment.
If I was in the market for BlueTooth, this is the phone I'd get.

It seems a lot of people have problems getting all the listed features. I had to call sprint 3 times to get picture mail.
As for instant messaging options, it's unclear if they meant web based, which is free or application.
I also get, unavailable .... for aim, but for yahoo msg, it's asking $2.99 a mo

Getting txted for every AIM IM while using web based, is so bad. If you forget to hit sign out and just exit internet, you still get txt notifications for ims you receive. 10 ims = $1, 20 im - $2 and so on.

I signed up through the website, and I still had no picture mail and "nights starting at 7" for $5 a month (which I didn't request). It was pretty simple to get both of those issues fixed when I called customer support. I also asked about instant messaging when I called in, and they said I would need to use a web-based system for it.

I believe that was an option that was checked by default near one of the ending pages of the online signup.

Yes, it was, and I remember seeing it, and unchecking it. Besides, i don't think it also showed up on my order invoice.
It's like those silly plans CC and other companies offer you and you say no, but then you get charged for it. No biggie I guess, just gotta verify if you don't want it.

So is the web-based system free to use under this plan? I haven't used either, what's the difference?

Fixing 7pm nights was easy for me, picture mail took 3 calls. First two 20 mins, last call around 40 minutes.

Web-based is free, because it works same way any website works, and you have unlimited web access.
Web based aim sucks. For every IM you get, you also get a txt notification, for which I believe you get charged 10 cents. If you don't sign out, upon exit from interent, you still stay signed on, and if anyone IMs you, you get txt notification, only these IMs are lost most of the time, when you go back. AIM application seems to be unavailable for me, on A900 at this moment, maybe sprint has problems with it. And you have to pay for the app. Haven't tried it, but guess it's better then web. Paying for aim 1.99 or 2.99 forget which one is not an option for me.

Do you think that you could do the same thing when purchasing the PPC-6700 on ebay for $279? The seller said that the SERO plan is not eligible for this deal, any comments/ideas?

Then AIM isn't really free because you get charged for the notification txt msg. Is that teh only reason why you say web based AIM sux? Is there not a way to disable txt msg notifications or would you have to disable all txt msgs???

I don't think there is a way to disable txt notifications, this is reason no.1 why it sucks.
Reason no.2 why it sucks, is because you lose some IMs, i've tried it once, got notification, came back to conversation and im was lost. I've also heard from other people about loosing IMs if you leave conversation without signing out. At the same time get notified of new ims via txt, and get charged.

Maybe you only lose ims sometimes and not always, don't know.

Overall, It's a great plan. Thanks for posting. I used to pay $40 for 400 with Verizon. Now I pay less for more. and plus vision access, even more than more
You may have some problems with sprint here and there, but overall so far it doesn't seem that bad. Having some problems with voicemail notifications coming thru next day, but hope to fix that.
There is a lot you can do with sprint powervision, a lot of good services available online for free

Anyone in the NYC area have any comments on the service? I really want to get it, the unlimited data will be huge for me, plus I'll be paying a little less. I keep pushing for it, but my girlfriend always shuts me down saying that all her friends who have Sprint say it SUX. So anyone have any conclusions?

PS. I just got the phone today, so I have 14 days to return it. I suppose I'll see for myself, but maybe some of you others will chime in as well.
