I just tried to sign up with the sero plan and checked my order status about 15 minutes after I placed the order. It said I have been approved, but I need to call to get the order to ship today. I called and they are wanting me to put down a $150 deposit that they will refund me in 12 months. WTF!!! Needless to say I canceled the order.

Anyone else run into a problem like this?

Yes it does. Just go to the Sprint Music Store, update the software, and select Player to play your MP3s. I exchanged mine for the Treo, but I think you have to let the phone format your MicroSD first, then you can copy the songs to it.

Call Inphonic and ask them since you have to put $150, can they give you a $100 Amex giftcard for putting down the deposit. I've heard people getting $50-$100 because of having to put down a deposit.

I wanted to share my SERO experience with you guys. I know this really looks great and may be for some but not for all.

I signed up for the SERO plan through the Sprint website (it is actually Inphonic [actually Wirefly]) they sent me the phone I ordered. I couldn't get reception at my house, my work either....kept dropping calls, soo...

I contacted Sprint as per the directions in the box I got the phone in. Took forever, several calls before they finally told me I had to get another phone from Inphonic.

OK...I contact Inphonic again. Boy, I thought Sprint customer service was slow....wrong! It took up to 25 minutes per call when I contacted Inphonic just to speak to a human. Then all their customer service is in India or Pakistan, no Americans. I had to call back several times just to find someone I could understand. But...I finally convinced them to send me a different phone that was supposed to get better reception.

Got my new phone from Inphonic...same deal...dropped calls, couldn't stay connected online over 2 minutes at a time. So, after much time with customer service and tech support, I finally cancelled and went back to Cingular.

Please be aware...this deal is not for the faint of heart...LOL

I read somewhere, wayyyyyy back in this thread that you could e-mail Customer Care to get free text messages...
What is the E-mail address for Customer care? And what E-mail account do I use to e-mail customer care?

I tried, and they called my bluff. I didn't get any free text messages :frown:.

I am very happy with my a900 and my service. Clear calls, and no drops in 2-3 weeks I've had it.

The Razr has longer battery life if that matters.

I have not had any problems either. I ordered my phones over the phone, and I received them *GASP* in FOUR DAYS!!!! both an LG FUSIC (X550) and a Samsung A900m. I then bought a PPC 6700 off of ebay...

The only time I have gotten dropped calls was on my jaunt from Lex.Ky to E-Town Ky...which is fairly rural.

Ok, on the sprint site it said it didnt and I didnt look into it much more. Do you have to buy every song from sprint or can you add your own to the micro sd?

I got the Treo 700wx and I am really happy. I almost got the Q but it's really not a fully featured pda phone. It's good for someone who sorta wants a pda phone for the keyboard and screensize and WM of course but doesn't need a pda
For all those people harassing retentions dept, it is pretty much beating a dead horse trying to get freebies added on to a sero plan.. If you are lucky and have a student ID you can get the 300 free texts.

some other posters mentioned they needed to put a deposit.

many first time cell phone orders need to put a deposit. my guess is for lack of credit. what guarantees them that you won't run up a $1000 bill (believe me, it's possible), and not pay? at least they can keep the $150.

and it's not like you're paying $150. u do get it back.

i don't have sprint btw so it's my educated guess as cingular and T-Mobile do require deposits from some people as well

To contact Ecare, just log into your sprint account and click on "Contact Us" and choose the email option. Actually, i just tried getting the 500 free txt msgs this weekend and was successful. I just told them how loyal i am to sprint, but would be happier with 500 free text msgs. The next day i got a reply stating that it was added to my plan. Supposedly, Sprint really values loyalty. I've been with Sprint for a year now.... don't know if that makes any difference.

Based on what I have read in this book (or thread). Its better to avoid the online sign-up, and go to the sprint store. I would like to get a PM from a real employee so I can get a real email & phone number....Thanks GTFan for this great posting

I'm currently a sprint customer and i'm in a 2 year contract as well. I called sprint today and had the lady add me to the $49.99 plan which has 1250 minutes and all the same unlimited stuff this plan has with no hassles at all. She never once asked me for any email address or verification of any type. I also got free text messaging added on and an additional $5 off after calling back due to the first lady not giving me my minutes free after 7pm.

most sprint stores dont you let you sign up for sero.

just use one of the emails and get it through inphonic. less of a hassle IMO.

I wish the OP had enough time to update the first post, or create a new thread altogether. Dont really feel like going thru all 20 pages of the thread

Can anyone give a breif recap on pros and cons for the phones they carry?
Also, can I just use savings@sprintemi.com at SERO website to sign up?

TIA, sorry for laziness and lack of reading comprehension

Updated OP with current info, but if you have questions, ask and someone here will help you. Or not, depending on whether they think you want to be spoonfed.

It's not intended to be a discussion about phones btw, that info is readily available elsewhere on the net. See phonescoop.com if you want reviews and ratings, for example.

Yes the Q is indeed available now!

Just to be clear, according to this thread and the SERO website, I can get a Moto Q ($99 currently) with a 500 minute plan, nights starting at 7pm,(those 2 extra hours are huge) free unlimited internet (PCS Vision), a $25 referral reward, and possibly free unlimited text messages depending on my luck ....

all for $30/month before taxes and fees?!

Other than this being an "employee referral" program that's seemingly open to anyone in the know, what's the catch, if any?

Sorry for the skeptical tone but it just seems too good to be true. Thanks!

It's not, and there is no catch other than what I posted in the OP. Don't know anything about the $25 referral though.

Yup, it works. Just need a friends (sprint) cell #, and you each get a $25 card.
