About the refurb floppy- It doesn't mention the I-8100 in the description but if you look for parts for your I-8100 system the floppy shows up... It does the same thing for a refurb ac adapter. It doesn't mention the 8100 in the description but shows up under system search, and is the same part # as a new one..

The dell inspiron 8100 laptop deal is still valid. it's just hidden from their website. however, there is no free shipping now, and ground shipping is $35. you may use your Fedex account to save.

dell small business now is giving a free palm m105, is it possible to order 8100 online and call in to get the free palm? just a thought.

I copied the 8200 link then replaced 8200 with 8100 and came up with this.

However you're not able to order without an EVALUE code.

Anyone have an old Dell catalog laying around (preferrably Small Business) which has an EVALUE code we can use?

Well I called Dell Small Business at 1-800-917-DELL option 2, option 3, option 3.

Good news and bad news.

Bad news:
According to the Dell sales rep, the Inspiron 8100 laptop was discontinued 3 days ago. So even if you phone in your order this model is no longer available for sale, they're out of stock and won't be getting anymore unless you want to get a Dell refurb.

Good news:
The demand for the Inspiron 8100 was so great that they ran out of chasis (casing) for the 8100 and had to substitute 8200 P4's at no additional cost for some 8100 orders. So if you ordered an 8100 consider yourself LUCKY (very lucky), you might be getting a free upgrade to the 8200 P4 from the 8100 P3 at no additional cost.

Is anyone else kicking themself in the ass?

I don't know who is getting the free upgrade to the 8200 P4. I would imagine if your order is on back order status that's a GOOD thing because they've run out of something (probably the 8100 chasis).

I would call customer service and ask them what the deal is? If they say you're getting a free upgrade to the 8200 P4 make sure to write down their first name/last name, extension and date/time you spoke just in case.
