Anyone know how the HP 1200se compares to the Brother HL-1440?

I have been wanting a LP for a long time now... Brother is about same price.

Ok! I broke out the 'ol Visa and bought one of these!

Went to Staples B&M and used a $30 off $150 ....yes CSR took it

Total $185.48 w/tax

Now off to plug it in and test out!

I've read some issue regarding the brother...noisy fans, skewed prints, etc.....use google and try "HL-1440 review"

I've setup a few of these recently....couple of things

Toner: User techbargains.com, search for "Hp 1200 toner" 2500pg toner is $53 shipped from newegg.com, 3500pg toner for $60 (to Seattle, WA area)

Special cable: No, it takes USB or Parallel (bi-directional).

Memory: Comes with 8mb, online (from Kingston.com) prices are $36 for 64mb, $26 for 32mb, $18 for 16mb shipped.


Good printer, but if graphics are to be put, I highly recommend USB.....printer is too fast, so it spins down between pages causing a delay as it spins up to print next page. Intant-on fuser works well, never turn unit off.....can't unless you unplug unit. Consumes about 250-300w printing, 5-15w on standy (default of 5min).

Do you know how "2500pg" toner compares to "495pg" inkjet? Do they measure this with the same scale (ie some percentage of a page printed)?

Dude my printers work fine! I've already printed around 100 pages and the skew not a problem at all. I love them they are very fast and quiet, the only thing I don't like about them is there is no off switch : ( and pictures take a second or two delay before printing, but I'm not complaining out the door today with price adjustment for $178 <--- thats after tax! : )))))

No Staples around here (Houston), so I used the Staples AICPA $30 off at OM.
They took the competitor's coupon no prob. The printer rang up $349.99, but the
manager overided $169.99.

I called in all the officemax here in houston and all of them told me they were out of stock.
ONE, however, told me they could order it for me if I come in to their location, and I did.
Guess what, those fuggers still had one in stock. I grabbed it and now it's gone....

i swear OM managers are such POS bastards...one of the ones here in austin had it but he refused to hold it for me or ship it to me or anything...even though i told him i'd pay him by credit card right then and right there...and by the time i got there it was gone...had to cuss him out right in his face

never again will i do business with this POS company...OfficeDepot it is for me from now on...their normal prices are cheaper too

Have you tried going to a Staples store with the ad and have Staples PM the Officemax price? most wouldn't PM if the item is OOS but some times you will get a manager how is to lasy to call and or will not know that it has to be in stock to do a PM.
