(Dead) HP LaserJet 1200SE Laser Printer for "$170" AC at OfficeMax or "$160" with PM to Staples (was $400)

Bought mine from Staples last night. $199 100% price match not 110%. Staples corporate sent a memo to the stores to 100% PM because the 1200se in out of production, replaced by the 1300.

They told me they would not PM internet prices but I had the Sunday ad that I downloaded and showed them that it was a B&M ad. That's when the memo seach started.

They would not match any OfficeMax-only rebate offers related to Rolodex or surge protectors.

P.S. the HP 1300 laser uses a different cartridge but is still 1200dpi, just faster.

That's the number for OfficeMax phone orders, so although the HP LaserJet 1200SE Laser Printer is not on-line it looks like you can order it by phone and use a phone order coupon code, (A-xxxx) if they have any left.

I purchased one of these when Staples had the $100 rebate a couple of weeks ago. I got Staples to PM to the OfficeMax ad earlier this week, but they only PM it to 100% not 110%. Still not a bad deal...

I got one last night at the OfficeMax in Dilworth, MN. They were out when I stopped in on Wednesday but the manager said they were getting 4 in on Thursday. They took my name and sure enough, they held one for me. There were still two up for grabs last night. It might be worth checking back at other stores to see if they also got a second shipment.

One problem I'm having though: I installed it on XP Pro, with the drivers provided by Windows but the maximum resolution it lets me have is only 600 dpi. I thought it was supposed to be 1200 dpi? Anyone else having this problem?

The way I under stand it the Corporate HQ memo send out OK'g the PM indecates that it doesn't have to be in stock at officemax to do the PM, if you are trying to PM by phone mention the Corporate HQ memo to CSR, but your best bet is to do it in a Staples store and use the $30 off $150 printable coupon (the AICPA one).

No, I don't have a copy of the memo, it's a memo that was send from Corporate HQ to store managers, I just heard they mention that they had gotten the memo. I would think that CS would have also gotten a copy of the memo.

BTY : one person say that they was able to get the $199.99 PM at Office Depot and use a on-line $25 off $75 Office Depot coupon in the store, but YMMV on that one.

I get the PM price at one Staples store Thur. without the ad and I got another one Wed. with a copy of the ad and I heard the manager talking on the phone to another manager say something about a memo when he was doing the PM.

This was post by someone on another forum :I went to Staples today to PM and was ready for a problem, but guess what everyone?? A MEMO came out from Corporate to the Staples that they are to honor the OM ad even though they know that OM is out of stock everywhere. They said that they want to get the new customers. I was told this by the regional manager and assistant regional manager since they were both there and 1 of them knows me. No problem PMing at all, so you should all be able to do it anywhere. Just tell them to check their memos I was also able to use my Giftcard from my D135 purchase and they were kind enough to let me use my cpa coupon(I really do work in a cpa office)so it was an awesome deal.. especially with the 110% guarantee using the $349.99 original purchase price that rang up and not the $299.99.

I picked one up on Wednesday and was also told of the memo. I appears there were alot of upset OM customers that didn't get the printer. Staples decided this was a good way to get new customers.

If your store Mgr isn't honoring the memo, call Corp or ask for the DM's name/phone number. I'm sure their attitude will change real quick.

Got 2 of them last Monday here in Long Island, NY when it snowed a couple of inches. The store had about 10 of them when I was there. I 1st went to the OfficeMax in the area to get the flyer... they had 8 in stock. The staples manager smiled when she saw me walk in with the flyer and had no problem 110% pricematching and using the AICPA $30 off $150 coupon. They had already sold a couple that morning. I got each for $173.59 (including the 8.5% sales tax here). Its an excellent printer and I would have had no problems paying $300 for it.

I just scored this printer at a Staples today too, 110% pricematch and coupon. They called to verify stock, but after waiting 20 minutes, they gave up and matched the price. Sweet!

One question though, when I print stuff out, i open up the print status windows, and it shows it printing 100-2000 pages for one single document. I don't know what's up with that. If I print a system 1 page word doc, the status window shows me as printing 12xx pages, but only 1 page comes out. I don't know if that's a driver problem or what. It works fine. Anyone else notice that error?

I went to OfficeMax today here in Fairbanks, Alaska with really no hope at all that this deal would work up here. But amazingly, they still had two units sitting out on the display! There were advertised at $229.00 in the flyer, but it rang up at $199.00. Good enough for me!!!! I didn't expect to find one, so I had no coupons with me or anything, and there is no local Staples to PM. But I'm happy. It's a mind blowing bargain even at $199.00

Now, I *do* have a problem. I tried connecting this with a brand new USB cable (from SAMS Club, where they cost about 1/9th as much as they cost at OfficeMax) and it woud never work. I've got Win XP Pro. I downloaded latest drivers from HP and I used a little connectivity patch also downloaded from HP. No good.

The system would find the printer, and ask for drivers, and identify it correctly. But if I tried to print a test page from Windows XP, it would have an error. Also, HP's software could not connect.

Using a parallel cable, all the problems vanished. I wonder if my unit is screwed up? Anyone else have problems getting their printer to work with USB?

I picked one up in Macon, GA as I stated above. I asked the manager about price-matching OM because the local OM closed. The manager told me he had received a memo saying to price-match OM, so he did even though there is not a local store. The closest one is 30 minutes away. He never called to confirm stock because the memo said to price-match. They had several in stock, but he didn't expect them to last long. He even price-matched at 110% and let me use the $30 off $150 coupon. This was the first I had heard about a memo, and my earlier post was the first mentioning the memo. Afterward, several others were told the same by their Staples managers. If your Staples manager didn't read/ignored the memo, I guess that is not a manager who really wants to generate local customer good will at corporate expense.
