I own this drive. They are made by MANY people. Some of the drives are lite-on's, but, in my experience at least, it was VERY difficult to find. I bought one drive, and it was an Acer. Took it back and got a BMC, took that one back adn got another acer. There's no way to tell from the outside of the box.

For what it's worth: While I really wanted a lite-on, the Acer performed great. And at $25, I'm not sure you can complain too much anyway.

Did anyone besides me notice that both rebates require the ORIGINAL receipt? I wonder if this is a new trend (requiring the original rather than a copy) as I have come across it recently a couple of times. Any thoughts? That makes this hot deal much less hot.

if you go to the B&M they print out multiple receipts for you...i plan on using my coupon there... just have to make sure I get the right mgr...

i enter the numbers into office max.com and make show that yes I do get a 25 discount but it's not online and I need it right now/going outta town whatever...and if i'm really nice the mgr will go sure i'll take it bring in a copy of the order to have it filled and for their paperwork (show that they aren't just giving ppl money)...

Here's a review on this drive from PC World. In short, it's not bad and it uses a Lite-On internals. I hope that can make the decision for the few of you. Are most of the drives firmware flashable?

I make about 95% of my purchases OL rather than B&M and consistently use copies of the packing slip in lieu of receipt and with the dozens and dozens of rebates I have done with all "the usual suspects" and specifically OMax I have never had one refused.

Obviously, YMMV, but I have never had a problem.

Very correct...still waiting for a $5 rebate from some Khypermedia discs...that was sent in 1-14 (walled Lake, MI)

After reading the many horror stories of rebates...i always keep copies...

Does anyone know what the return policy is at OMX?
I purchased a 32x12x40 FOR $60.00 (AR & Coupon) about 3 weeks ago.

I would prefer to get (2) 24X10X40 and save a couple bucks.

The drive has never been installed.
It was an extra to have for my next computer.
