Jes,

It all depends who the rep is. I guess you already got a hole of the bottom of the box (UPC code). If that's the case, I would take the drive there and just play dumb hoping they won't see it. Some reps don't while most manager will say no 'cause they can't resell it with missing upc code. Anyway, best of luck.

The return policy is with receipt and only within 14 days. No UPC, no return usually or within 14 days, we take the rebate amount off from the refund. After 14 days, and with the manager permission, all returns, automatically goes on a gift card only. After 30 days, definitely no returns or gift cards only.

Optical,

The UPC is still intact.

I never sent in the rebate.

Why?
I had previously purchased a 24x in Jan 2002 and a 16x in Feb 2002. I got the rebate for the first and a postcard saying that the second one was declined. Called the Rebate Center and was told that there was a limit of 1 per offer, I explained that I downloaded the rebate form from OMX and it read under two different offers. She said that the PO Box that I sent the rebate in to was for a single offer. I then noticed that OMX "GOOFED" on the rebate form and used the same PO Box number for both offers. I am fighting this one out with OMX and expact a favorable decision.

Anyhow, Anyone know the return policy for a brand new, never installed CD-RW with the UPC still intact?

Thanks!

Gregtor,

Yes, it can be done.
I have swapped a 24 x Acer that I purchased Online at the B&M for a Lite-on.

Don't let them try to tell you otherwise.
If necessary, tell them you called OMX.com and they said if any problem that they should call Customer Service.

Good Luck!

Anyone having any luck on this one?

I have been playing with it since 0630 EDT but the link in the original post to the drive gets me a "Sorry this item is not available" on the OMax site.

If I go to OMax site directly and enter the SKU 20093890 it takes me to:

I/O MagicWriter 24x10x40 CD-RW Drive Magic Writer 24X10X40 Item # 20093890, Style # DR CDRW2440 $99.99

The Hi-Val drive listed as an acceptable substitute on the rebate form is also listed at $99.99.

Unless they get one or the other of these on sale for $69.99 later today this deal appears to be a non-starter.

These guys are so lame! This happens every Sunday. Usually, they have the site updated by around 2:00 p.m., or so.

The only thing not lame about them are their great deals like this one!

I don't want to crap your thread but I/O Magic Rebate fulfillment SUCKS. I'm STILL waiting for $100 in rebates from I/O Magic-OfficeMax deals. I've been waiting since the first week of December 2001. I really doubt that I'll get anything at this point. It seems to me that if they are not planning of fulfilling their rebate program they motivate people to NEVER buy I/O Magic equipment again. I've sent 2-3 emails (they conveniently don't have a phone number--not even a toll number) in regard to the topic. I get these generic return emails saying that they are processing the rebates. I will NEVER even consider buying I/O Magic ever again because of this apparently intentional non-fulfillment.

Did I mention that I/O Magic is SUCK for rebates?

I just called there 1-800 number and ordered. If you order from there, make sure to say you got the numbers form the ad. If you don't, they will give you the $99 price. My total came out to $91.14. It will get here Tuesday!!!

IO Magic rebates DO SUCK BIG TIME !!!! I finally got my last one on a CD-Rom drive, but it took over 4 months. You have to keep going to their website, and filling out their online "wheres my rebate" form. They are supposed to reply to you within 5 days, but they never do. I got my rebate after I had filled out the form 5 times. I wouldn't get another IO Magic product with their rebate.

used the cpn in store not a prob at all...my total was 89.23 after tax. I didn't get an rebate receipt for the drive however, but a quick call to the store and they said they would make a copy and then store stamp it to verify...who knows about that...I'm going to make sure the store verify if they reject it cause of that they will pay the rebate. Anyway, the SN for my drive is 20304982JE E4 so no liteon luvin for me it seems...haven't installed it quite yet...but i'll report back soon.

Well its an Acer with just link and just speed...but i'm running a p2 350 192M running 98se on the fly copy, the Justlink was used 146 times...man..

I didn't feel like driving to the store, so I just called their 800 number and should have my drive and disks by Tuesday. Since 800 number is an extension of the on-line store applying coupon was a breeze.

For all the people who complain that I/O Magic rebates take too long: you obviously never bought any Philips CD-RW drives. NOBODY beats Philips at screwing up rebates; I had to wait for mine 7 months.

I can't get this to work...

If I click the link to the drive, it takes me to the homepage
If I seach the number, it shows the drive for $99.99, then I click on that, and it tells me it unavailable.

Also, do i just print out those rebates and send them in, or do they send me rebate forms?

Also, I can't even find the CDs

You can order the I/O Magic 24x drive #20093890 and the Spin-X 100 pack CD-Rs #20150694 by phone 1-800-283-7674 - select option 1. Make sure to say you got the numbers form the ad, if you don't, they will not give you the sale prices.

I called using the "sale" sku number and it came out as 99.99. She researched it then told me it was only good at B&M. The problem is none of the B&M takes coupons where i'm at. this sucks. am i doing something wrong here?

<< So....where's the $5 rebate on the CDR? >>

You can get it from the in-store rebates handout. I think I found it on-line once, too, but now I can't. The handout shows that those items marked with an asterisk will take the copy of UPC. That's what you use for these double rebates, at least the Belkin ones.
