If you return it you might want to look at the NEC ND-2500 Dual 8x+ & 8x- DVD±RW drive (OEM version) sellling for $103 or wait a while since the price has been falling on this drive about $3 or $4 a week and should be selling for $90 in a few weeks.Originally posted by: jeffspam
Ugh. Decided it was time to upgrade my + only Philips DVDRW228. Big mistake. Got the BTC drive in my box, installed it and immediately upgraded to the latest firmware, stuck in one of the TDK 4x -R's I bought with the drive, and... COASTER! That's not a good sign. I never burned a single coaster with my DVDRW228. I'm going to go back tomorrow and see if they happen to have any shrinkwrapped drives on the shelf to do a swap with, otherwise it's going back. $90 is hot for a drive that works. But I don't want to spend another $50 in coasters over the life of the drive.
Anyone in NYC get an optorite from Staples? If so, which location?
