Office Depot has the I/O Magic 8x on sale for $99.99 after 2 mail-in rebates, you can try to have OD or CC price match the Straples price of $99.99 after a $50 instant savings and hopefully still get the rebates. This is of course a BIG YMMV because OD or CC after rebate price is the same as Staples non rebate price. If Office Depot says they can't give you the rebate forms that's OK because you can download the rebate forms from thier web site.

Burners that have the ability to read/write regular bit patterns correctly (w/EFM encoding) in order to make 1:1 backups of a game CD with SafeDisk2 protection. "2 sheep" is an old CloneCD reference that means the drive does this correctly, "1 Sheep" means the drive does this almost correctly.

It should be available online. Most people on FW are reporting the drives as BTC though, darn it. I really wanted HD Burn.

With the price of dvd-r media dropping I doubt you'll miss the HD Burn feature. I bought a Optorite in the middle of last year and have only used HD Burn a few times to test it on different media (not all cdr media is compatable).

So is the lack of HD Burn the biggest drawback to the BTC model? Or is there something else I'm missing? Personally, I don't think I'd ever really have much use for HD Burn.
