My local OfficeMax has all three brands. Which should I buy? I/O Magic, PD, or Khypermedia. Does it really matter much?

The PD is a LiteOn. Excellent drive. The Khyphermedias bite from what I read in here.
Can anyone tell me where the rom flash files can be had??

I have both the Benq and the Cyberdrive. The Cyberdrive generally writes my DVDs at 8x (ricoh 4x +R) with slightly fewer errors than the Benq, but they're pretty close. Both drives write way fewer errors than my Lite-on 811s, by the way. I'll probably return the Benq because I don't care about bitsetting and the slightly fewer errors with the cyberdrive.Originally posted by: jpeyton

From the reviews at CDRInfo, the rebadged Cyberdrive kicked Lite-On's butt. The Lite-On is only better if you need to burn DVD-R, or if you need to bit-set your DVDs to make them compatible with older players. However, the BenQ (which is also rebadged as a KHypermedia drive) offers DVD-R burning and bit-setting, and uses the same burning engine as the Cyberdrive.

Hey everybody, I got the PD drive and it runs great.
Quick question: should I install the DVD burner as master or as slave???? will it be any differences? the other drive is just a CD rom. so any input will be great.
thanks
The I/O Magic rebate requires the UPC code from a I/O Magic box, take it back to the store and tell them that the I/O Magic isn't going to work and to either get $50 MIR off the price or give your mobey back.Originally posted by: ericlp
I just picked up a Khypermedia,
Serial No. Starts with XE010C0XXXXX Khypermedia.
Anyone know who makes that??? I tried looking for more info... Didn't find anything yet. I am not going to install this for a couple of reasons 1'st I want to make sure that this thing is one of the better drives....
Two... I bought this and they couldn't find any Khypermedia rebate forms so they marked off an IO Magic Drive and told me to use that one. I am not feeling good about sending a rebate form in with the wrong item checked off on it. The more I think about it I may just return it.... 50.00 is a chuck of change... Rebate forms are flaky enough as it is ... BUT sending in one that isn't even correct ...SIGH....
I was just @ office max and didn't see anything for 40 bucks...

I went down this morning to pick one of the PDs up before the deal changed tonight. Had to have rep get one out of the back. When it rang up it showed $80.00 Instant Rebate and still spit the tape for the $50 MIR!!! I had a $10 coupon so netted 19.99 plus tax!!
I went and got my son in law and we went back and scored one more each at the same price!!! All three are 4813s so I guess there liteons?? Anyone in the southern Idaho area might head for OM in Twin Falls before closing and compter changes over!!
+++Edit- Both of mine are 851S liteons with beige plate. Not sure on son in laws+++
