Just a follow up to my pixel problem. Called IBM and they said that the number of pixels that are bad on my LCD definately qualifies for a replacement/repair. They are sending a Airborne Express box to me to package it up and i just have to give it to AE and IBM takes care of the shipping. In all i counted about 11 dead pixels. Hopefully the new LCD will be better
How are all your LCD's, many dead pixels?

Not worth it, IMHO. I've run Crucial and other non-IBM brands in my Thinkpads since I bought a used 701 many years ago, and never had a single problem. The best price I can find on the actual IBM 512MB SODIMM is about $180, which is about 100% too much.Originally posted by: jbwhite99
My suggestion is to look at IBM memory (a little more but worth it) - if you ever have to send in your machine for repair, you'd better take out your non-IBM memory - if that is the cause of the problem, you pay for the repair!!

Well I bought this laptop for a friend, who is a senior vp at a big company. He had a presentation Saturday and the laptop went belly up moments beforehand. The bottom hlaf of the screen is no longer displaying anything, but the top half works.
Very odd and disappointing.

My grandma smoked pot and drank whiskey daily until she died at the age of 110...
Is this normal? No... Is it within the realm of possibility? Sure...
The same can be said for your situation...
Nothing is perfect... Not even a ThinkPad...
Hopefully. =)Originally posted by: UltraWide

call IBM they will take care of it.
Nothing against you or your friend, but if he's a Senior VP at a big company he should probably be relying on his internal IT organization both for his hardware and for support. If they're not even providing him with a company laptop, I'd be pissed if I were your friendOriginally posted by: iwearnosox
