*DEAD* Insane BB laptop deals (Compaq x1050 Centrino 1.4 GHz for 800 AR among others!)

Got a x1050us last night. The build of this lappy is awesome! It was hid on the top shelf of my BB and behind a bunch of others, and the salesman did not look happy getting it for me. Then I had to pry the rebate forms out of the register girl.

I am a happy camper! For 850 +/- you cant beat this deal - no way jose....

Now if I can just tweak the built in wifi so it stops dropping the connection.....

The Compaq X1030 is now $1449 - $350MIR = $1099 AR... They jacked the price up $300 to counteract the rebates. That sucks.

AFAIK the only difference between the 1030 vs 1050 is 512MB RAM vs 256MB RAM.

So you're paying an extra $300 for 256MB RAM!!!!

No. The X1030 has always been that high. The X1050 is what we're talking about and that was a limited time item at BB so its no longer on the site nor in most stores.

And as said earlier, the X1030 is EXACTLY like the X1050 except it has 512MB rather than 256MB onboard. The screens are both EXACTLY the same size. So yes, youre paying $300 just for an extra 256MB, but youre also paying for the chance at a good notebook. And considering the X1050 is practically gone, then $1099 is still a good price for such a great laptop.

As emonkey said the x1030 was always that price...different model.
x1000 base model, xx30 -vs- xx50 are the options 512mb -vs- 256mb only difference.

It appears Best Buy did a (1) time purchase of the x1050 for Thanksgiving, then clearanced them out. But they intend to carry the x1030 model.

If your lucky there may still be a few behind the counters of BB. Got mine Wed-night, last one in the cage, they had offered to ship one in from Wisconsin if I wanted, seems they thought the one in the cage had been shipped out to another store. Too bad soo sad! =P

Just an FYI...

If you're in PA and near the Wilkes-Barre store they still have 4 of the X1050US's in stock at the $1150 price.

I scored one... They're well hidden in back by the 'techs' on the shelf.

So if the mook cant find it- tell em where it is.

I have 4 x1050's available in my area but I can't bring myself to buy one. It's a killer deal but it's also a lot of money to dole out right before christmas. Pretty disapointing as I have wanting a centrino. The "want" to have one doesn't outway the "need" right now.

if it makes you feel better, you have 18 months to pay it off with the Best Buy CC I've bought a TV and now this laptop this way. I like to call it my $50/month best buy bill in my budget

all this centrino fever. don't mean to be rude, but don't you think these will soon be the defacto standard for mobile computing (read a lot of good deals!). wouldn't worry about missing this deal because the great deals on this chip are just beginning imho.

Yeah, same here. Best Buy can blow ass sometimes when they don't special order or help you get one from another store.

Sorry everyone, I think this deal is now dead. The $100 rebate for Centrino notebooks expired yesterday so the final price now (if you can still find one) is 900 AR.
