Where the hell is this Fry's everybody always talks about? I've never seen this store and I've lived in 8 different US states. Is this a California only store or something?

Any idea on which board exactly it is? And has ECS gotten any more reliable? I've gotten in on a few combo deals like this in years past but the mobo's usually die.

Also, is the processor OEM, or retail?

fry's is jumping the gun on intels price cuts scheduled for the 22nd of this month to unload some cheap board that isn't even quad compatible, the q6600 will be $270 in a couple weeks pretty much everywhere.

But this is still a great deal to get it early if you can use the MB, if you got in on one of those $200 pc's in the last couple weeks that can't do 1066, the board is a perfect upgrade to drop your old core2 in it when you upgrade to a quad and for 30 bucks, pretty sweet little bundle for those people, or if you're willing to take the $30 loss to be a couple weeks ahead of the price cuts.

I went to Fry's this morning and picked up the combo. The bundled ECS motherboard does not work with the CPU, as everyone else has said. I was hoping I could use the board for troubleshooting, but guess not. The CPU is retail and unopened, though I won't be surprised if someone gets an opened one. I chose the Asus P5N-E SLI (650i) motherboard to go with this CPU ($150). They also have the Asus P5K-E ($210), P5B Deluxe Wifi ($220), and P5K Deluxe ($280). All of them are cheaper online.

edit: My CPU is a L644G... guessing that's the week number or something, if that matters for those who overclock
