Mine only had the UPC on the box; there was nothing to peel off so that's what I sent in. There's mention on Khypermedia's web site about a 24 digit barcode that may not exist on some boxes. I assume this is the peel-off sticker you have ? See their web site FAQ

My box had both a sticker with the UPC and serial number on it and then it had the UPC like the one pictured from your link. I went ahead and cut out the UPC and included the sticker with the serial and UPC just to be safe. I don't need the hassle of possibly getting denied just because I'm just too lazy to cut off the UPC from the box that is printed on the box.

BTW.. If your retail box didn't have the sticker, what are you using for a 24 digit serial number bar code?

Yes.. I read this. It has a couple of different interpretations as far as I'm concerned. My point is that there is a 24 digital serial bar code and a UPC bar code on the peel off sticker. So, technically, I am including the UPC code and serial number bar code. But.. If they mean that if I don't include the UPC bar code that is printed on the box, then I'd be SOL. So.. What I did was include both the UPC printed on the box and the UPC printed on the serial number bar code just to be safe.

You must have a different sticker than I do. Mine has only one bar code for the serial number. The only UPC is printed on the very bottom, on the box itself, is the one mentioned on the rebate, # 6 37668 04810 7.

This is what mine looks like. Also note the top where it mentions "Firmware Update: Flash Memory Upgradeable", yet in the email I received they claim the warranty is void if it's updated!

I did what the Khypermedia web site FAQ said to do - send in just the UPC that I have. My box UPC looks just like what Mindless1 posted except mine is made in Malaysia.

Yeah.. Mine is totally different. I have the UPC code below the serial code number on the sticker and thne I have the UPC just like you have on your box. If I get my scanner going, I'll scan it and show you.

I finally got around to scanning my UPC and serial number label. The regular UPC is on the bottom and the label that I was talking about is on the top. Notice how the serial number is on the top of the label and the UPC code is repeated on this same label.

Anyone know the difference in performance between a 2Mb (buffer) drive and an 8mb (buffer) drive?

I received the 2MB drive and my local OM doesnt have the 8MB in stock for an exchange. Just wondering if its worth running around to other OMs or should I just keep the 2MB drive.
Uses for the drive: web browsing, Word apps, Mp3..

How do you create a backup of the exiting firmware. I have the 'Made in Malaysia' drive which apparently has a Ricoh chip and Mtkflash doesnt work on it. I would more confident to flash if I have the original to fallback incase something goes bad.
The BENQ firmware upgrade tool didn't seem to have any option to backup current firmware.

Well.. The 8MB cache drive is faster. It's probably only noticeable when opening apps though and not for sustained hard drive use. Also, the 8mb cache drive comes with a 3 year warranty instead of a 1 year warranty.

K... is anybody having problems with the Kingston 256 DDR rebate... these guys at rebateshq are pissing me off... they claim that i didn't send in the orginal UPC. if i'm not mistaken.. they accept COPIES.. I just replied with a pretty angry email telling them to check their own rebate forms and policies... even attached picture of rebate form itself and UPC and told them to show me where it says that it needs to be the orginal.

Is anybody else have problems?

The OM kingston rebate (the rebate form with a whole bunch of items on it) said copies are OK. The kingston manufacturers rebate link said it wanted the original UPC. Both are being handle by rebateshq, so I'm sure there will be lots of problems.

Yup, had both of my Kingston rebates bouncing. Gonna call the in the morning to straighten things out. That usually does the trick. The Khypermedia rebates were OK'ed

Is anyone having problems with this drive in Nero in WinXP? My brother says Nero doesn't properly see it, only sees it as a "Virtual Image recorder" or something like that. Anyone else?

IIRC, the "virtual image recorder" is a Nero feature, has nothing to do with the drive. Try a different IDE position/channel/jumper setting. Mine didn't like cable select for example.

Thats because you have an older version of Nero. Goto Nero site and download the latest version and it will take care of the detecting problem. You don't have to buy it...just download it and install as it will update you to the most current version.

I did everything by mail and I am in the same situation. Also my khypermedia 48x officemax $45 rebate was honored but still have not seen anything posted regarding the $25 from khypermedia itself.

Did anyone get 2 of these drives? I just got another 48x cdrw from OM by itself with its own packing slip. According to a temporary charge on my credit card statement it looks like they're trying to charge me for it too!
