Word of warning... the Kingston SSDNow V300 is the "bait and switch" SSD.

Very dishonest company, now.... they replaced the Synchronous flash with slower asynchronous - they now have less than half the performance.

I would guess that these drives will go even lower, now that the secret is out.

Kingston used to be one of the best, alas, times they have a-changed.

I was going to get this drive today until I read about the "bait and switch". Too bad.

Yeah, V300 is forever tainted until they fix this. Prices on these have dropped like crazy over the past few months.

Yeah, "bait and switch", half performance, SATA2 speeds, blah, blah.

They work just fine in SATA2 motherboards, and they're cheap, warranty is fine.

If I had the spare cash, I'd pick up a few more at this price.

Just don't get these for a SATA6G rig and expect it to saturate SATA6G ports, like a modern SSD will.

I am proud to own a V300. Of course it was before the newer slower models.

I tested the Samsung 840, Kingston V300, and Crucial m500 in my playstation 3. Granted, the controller is only SATA 150 I think..but the 840 actually made a difference in load times for games downloaded on the drive, where as the V300 and M500 seemed to have similar load times to the stock 250GB spindle drive. Just my 2 cents. I tested the V300 in my Core 2 Duo rig and it was nice..but who puts an SSD in a core 2 rig

Ya that's the thing, its cheap and even w/ the slower performance, it still outperforms regular spinning HDDs all day

It all boils down to whether you want to support a company that employs such tactics. Booo-urns?
