I just installed my PSU and am so pleased with it that i thought id give this thread one more bump. First a few gripes:

These are "new pulls", but my unit clearly had its connectors pulled out with great force (and some kind of tool). The floppy connector was smashed to pieces and had broken wires near the top. Unfortunately by the time i realized this i had already cut out the fan grill and put in my own, so i had to strip the wires and install a new connector. The server connector was broken as well (but not as badly), but since i have no use for it i left it alone.

Now the good:

This unit fixed some issues my system was having (not all of which I realized were PSU related). The Codgegen 350W unit it replaced was creating some distortion on my speakers when my volume was high. Also I had some slight instability and it almost always took 2 boots to start the system (always tried to boot from a fat32 partition on my 2nd HD for some reason). All of that has been fixed! Also the voltage on all the lines is very constant, even under a load. My +5V line never goes below 5.0 (!)

Anyway aside from the minor damage incurred from the careless removal from its original housing, I am very pleased with this PSU.

For those of you who bought this...Is this PSU quiet? I need to get a new PSU cause the one I have now is getting noisy since it's old

I have observed that this PSU does vary fan RPM with temp. It is quiet at low load but when I used one to power a more demanding system the RPM rose making it closer to an average amount of noise.

To be honest with you im not sure. The rest of my system is so loud (8 fans) the PSU is inaudible.

I'm wondering has anyone else that bought this PSU also got their connectors smashed?

Thanx

Lite-on

I bought 2 cheap cases($30 each) that came with leadman 400w PS and one of them was DOA. You can't say quality on that one, very cheaply made.

All my connectors are fine. The casing is scraped pretty much all over. I don't think these are new "oem" power supplies, they seem to have been removed from a server as mine has scuff marks in a pattern on one side. I'm hoping these aren't used as well.

Feels heavy and lite-on is a good name. Not too concerned.

I believe they are "new pulls" - meaning they were pulled (rather violently it seems) from unsold systems for liquidation. I would imagine the only use they have gotten is simple testing.

The first one Directron sent looked pristine but the last looked scuffed up... none had damaged connectors or even the slightest bit of dirt/dust, I doubt they were ever used (or even tested except by manufacturer).

just received and installed the Liteon PSU today and its definately alot quieter than the last psu i had in there (Antec PP-303x)

question, i've got MBM5 running and i'm looking at the voltages. Are these close to optimal?
Core0 = 1.76v
Core1 = 2.48v
+3.3 = 3.31v
+5.0 = 5.04v
+12.00 = 11.94 V
-12.00 = -123.19v
-5.00 = 0.00v

running an ecs k7s5a, Palomino 2000+, DVD drive, burner, floppy, 1 hard drive, 2 fans

UCDznutz, those voltages look fine, but a motherboard monitor tells little about the PSU, only the motherboard's "state"... to accurately monitor the PSU output you'd need a multimeter reading from the PSU connector(s). Regardless, if it works it works.

Look pretty decent, but obviously MBM isn't reading the negative voltages correctly. (negative 123 volts?!?! zero volts?)

I need to pick up something like this one, running a 300W generic now, in place of a different, (much older) 300W generic that I fried when I installed my new MSI KT4V-L and XP1800 @ 1.667Ghz. Current 300W is still overloaded though, gives off a lot of heat out the back exhaust port, and my 3.3v line stays around 3.18v, 5v drops a bit too. Not so good. (Occasonally, I swear that I can hear slight crackling sounds from my machine too, not sure if it's the PSU or something else, but it scares me.) Also have occasional cold-boot problems.

I just installed one of these bad boys (and took it apart as well).

This PSU is quality. The fan exhaust is cool, the fan is relatively quite, and the voltages (except for the +12V) according to the motherboard are perfect. This is much better than the 4 year old L&C 300W unit that I'm replacing.

While I have not seen any issues with the +12V and being someone who never leaves well enough alone, does anyone know where to adjust the +12V?

Thanks

You should leave the 12V line alone your motherboard doesnt read it right. Dont trust your motherboards readings.

Well I ordered 4 for some budget boxes along with the Biostar newegg deal.

The first one I unwrapped wouldn't power the system. savage 8 integrated grafix, integrated sound, 256MB PC2100 Crucial, 60GB HDD, and CDRW, pretty minimal. The unit looks perfect, but swapping my ennermax 430W from my main system booted everything up fine, so I'm confident in the diagnosis.

I hope the other three are ok...

FWIW I also found the ATX power connector to be on the worlds shortest cable - It barely reached on my micro ATX board anyone else notice this, or does this vary?

Any experience with Directron's support? They have a byer be ware policy regarding shipping cost, and offer a return rating system, which unfortunately isn't listed for this item.
Please post, thanks!

Hmm, hard to say Oatman... Try the other three, and perhaps if you have another system you could try that PSU in (I never was very fond of Biostar, they are crap IMNSHO).

I have a simlar MSI KM266 mATX board that does fine with one of the LiteOns. What exactly is it doing?

That power connector cabling should be ~12" as described in the thread's first post. That's a pretty common length, over half the multiple brands/models of PSU I have here are under 14"

Directron's support wasn't too bad the last time i dealt with it, though my need was simple, there was only something missing from one of my orders and it was promptly sent.

Hmm, that's the one I had, that died on me - an L&C 300W, several years old. In that case, the 12V line on that PSU was dropping to 11.48V or so.

HI All

I hope this isnt another form of thread crapping. But, I have a brand new Antec 300 watt power supply I just took out of a new case. Its there newest supply model SL300S. Its both AMD and Intel approved. Its also is a retail unit with 3 year warranty. If anybody is interested LMK.

umm...might want to try the for sale forum. i think you should know better than to do that.

my friend bought this lite on unit b/c it was dirt cheap a year ago (like 12.99 or something) and we live in Houston, so no shipping. The casing was in good shape with no bad connectors. It's worked fine (even though it was just for his P2 system)

Hey VirtualLarry,

Yea, it seems like the +12V dropped and the amount of heat coming out of the exhaust fan was going up so I think it may have been time....

But this Liteon is a nice PSU!
