I have a set of these speakers and they are absolutely AMAZING. IMHO, better than my brother's Klipsch. I haven't seen a deal on these in a while and believe they are more $$$ at other locals.

The Z-680's you mean? If I'm not mistaken these replaced the Z-680's. These are probably a bit more refined and have various small improvements, but I'd consider them in the same league. If you have the Z-680's it's not worth the money (unless you really don't care about the money). If you look up a review of the 5500's they might compare them to the 680's.

I upgraded from my old logitech 4.1 system earlier this year becuase I wanted a center channel and these didn't disappoint. The brick is a little large and I had to get creative to get it out of the way, but the speakers are fantastic. I dare not go above 4 bars on these things or my neighbors may call the police.

man, I just bought the creative G500's because I could get them for $200, $70 less than the cheapest Z-5500's. Now they are almost the same... crap!!! Maybe I can cancel before them come as I did order them from Dell...

i have the Z5500. they are the best PC speakers i've owned.
my friend has the Z680, and yeah, it's just a predecessor of the Z5500

i think the only brand that can beat the Z5500 are the Klipsch's, and we all know how much they cost...
