Title pretty much says it all.

Here it is again:

Madden NFL 2004 for PC - $14.88 @ Target (B&M only)

EDIT: This is a sale price (not clearance) - so it lasts through Saturday 1/10.

EDIT: see below for HOT deals available if your Target is out of stock of Madden 04 - they'll sub a "similar item" which can be any PC game!

EDIT: DEAD - sale ended 1/10...but for those of you that scored rainchecks, the deals continue for another 30 days.

only thing I dont like about Madden 2004 on the PC is the feel of the game. The controls seem to be much better on XBOX. Does anyone else experience this???

Heck no.

Then again, I have never played the X-box version. It runs smooth as silk on my Athlon 2100, with a Radeon 9700 pro.

Best football game ever. (IMHO)

I've got the 9800 PRO on a 23" LCD. It runs smooth and silky. I love how it looks, but, my controllers just dont feel like the XBOX does (not as responsive). What controllers do you use? I use the gamepad pro usb ones. Are there any controllers that use USB 2.0 these days? Somethin more, well, responsive. Madden is a game that requres quick precision. Maybe its just the XBOX controller im missing.

one comment, with targets raincheck you can sub any other similar title, so if this is OOS you can get the 63% off anything else (hot in my opinion)

Definitely hot! To clarify, because someone is sure to ask -- you can substitute another item in the "same category" as the rain check'd item. The rain check gives examples like a TV for a TV, doll for a doll, shirt for a shirt. So technically you can only get another PC game although I wonder how closely they hold you to this.

Picked up two rainchecks earlier today and purchased PC Simpsons Hit and Run for $9.90
and xbox game True Crime for $14.80.

No problems and no need to be dishonest. Just followed the instructions on the raincheck and a manager ok'd it and sold me the games.

This same thread is going on over at FW, it's some 15pages long now. Raises a serious ethical question, as some people are using the 63% off similar item substitute on things like Windows XP, Taxcut, etc... obviously the raincheck policy wasn't designed for this, but it is "loophole-ish". I myself went to a local target and Madden was OOS, so I applied the substitute on Deus Ex: Invisible War, a $50 game I walked out with paying ~$20. Another popular choice is Call of Duty for ~$15 (it's also on sale this week for $40).

For those interested, this "substitute" raincheck policy will only be good throughout January, as it has something to with the holidays and understocked items, etc.

I don't feel too guilty, but something rankles me when I read about folx going in there and hiding several copies of the Madden game (to claim it is OOS), and then trying to get 5-10 rainchecks at once. The sad thing is that the target employees don't seem to mind... it's the ole, "hey I just work here", attitude...

anyway, summing it up - it's a very hot loophole if you can leave your conscience at home for about 30mins.

I've played Madden on all of the platforms, and the PC is the best IMO. Grab the new Logitech controller and you have one that mimics the PS2 controller. The Xbox controller just does not cut it for me on the sports games...I hated playing THPS on it...Madden I disliked it because of the "nice" placement of the black & white buttons.

Besides that, on the PC, if you can go online at all, you get free roster updates. Xbox doesn't have that...let alone online play.

I don't think it's that they don't seem to mind. They're just doing what they're supposed to be doing. Target is heavily pushing substitutions for OOS sale items. This is mainly to make the customer happy. How are they to know that some shady customer is hiding the sale item somewhere?

The policy behind the raincheck substitution is that it has to be from the same department. Software will substitute for software. Video games (XBOX, PS2, GC, PS One, GBA, etc.) are considered a different department.

I'm confused. I went to 2 Targets in my area and both stores had Madden 2003 for PC for $14.88. There was no other sale of any game for $14.88.

Of course they had a lot of copies of it left. I will have to try Friday or Saturday to see if they sold out on those. But this thread title says Madded 2004?

I checked my Sunday ad and it has no mention of this deal, which sucks because I went to BB to price match but since the Target w/the deal has sold out all their copies they won't price match to the ones at BB.
