If I were to return Max Payne 2, would i be able to get 49.99 towards a different game (or would I only get 14.88 credit)??? In other words, should I take my receipts with me or tell them I lost it?

I went today to return Max Payne 2 (originally 49.99). I didn't take my receipt because I didnt want 18.50 credit. The girl said that I couldnt exchange it because it had been open. There was no celluphane wrap (sp), just a slip cover but I guess there had been a sticker or something over the opening. She said I could only exchange it for the same item. I was like, "what would be the point of that?" So anyways, I'm going to go back next week and try again and exchange it for the same item and then exchange it again (it'll be unopened for sure after that). These policies make no sense to me. If anyone would rather buy it off me for 40 shipped, hit me up.

That is what you get for trying to be a dique!
That's what Target does in my area too and yes it's in their written policy however it's not posted to the public.Originally posted by: Slickone
OT: While at one target, i wanted to return something w/out a receipt and was told i could only exchange it for something else in the same dept. One wal mart around here (the scummiest) tries to pull that, but all the others just give a store credit 'card' good for anything. Is there anything in their policy saying it has to be in the same dept?
That's what you get for opening it. Hell, it says right on the receipt that it can only be exchanged for the same item if open.Originally posted by: jerkdiggler

Yes I understood what you said earlier. The policy is logical to them since they are trying to stop people from playing a game or viewing a movie then returning it. They aren't thinking in terms that someone will exchange it for an unopened package so they can turn around and return it for something else.Originally posted by: jerkdiggler
What i get for opening it huh ... do you not get the lapse in logic??? I'm going to exchange it for an unpoened one and then exchange the unopened one for a different game.

I'm going to come out of the shadows and say what all of you did here was WRONG. You found a loop hole in the system and took advantage of it.
This was not a HOT DEAL by any means. It was a con job and all involved should be ashamed.
