OK, I see it. Just hope they honor the price match if they know there aren't any in stock at Target.

A little OT, does anyone here use a game controller on Windows 2000? What works?

Of course they had a lot of copies of it left. I will have to try Friday or Saturday to see if they sold out on those. But this thread title says Madded 2004?

Anyone answer my question?

The non-sale price is $39.99, so on Sunday, the price will once again be $39.99. 2003 is to old to be at that price.

At my Target, they had Madden 2003 right next to Madden 2004. Madden 2004 was $14.88, on sale; Madden 2003 was $9.99-ish.

Hmmm....someone over at FW said this substitute thing has been at Target for a long time, that they'd used it for other categories before.

They are mismarked, then. Pick up the sales flier with the 2 for $20 offer on the front, and then check the 2nd page in the Computer Software Deals box. It's clearly 2004 shown...

This is an incredibly hot deal!

The substitute policy on the raincheck says:

CHOOSE A SUBSTITUTE
Choose a substitute and receive the same percentage off (listed above) on a regular-priced item within the same product category (i.e. TV for TV, doll for doll, shirt for shirt).

I've been to three Targets in Fresno/Clovis area so far. Madden 2004 was OOS at two of them, and there were two copies left at the other one. I didn't stoop to hiding the two copies to get the raincheck, but I might consider buying them both today and then going back and taking advantage of the raincheck. This is a great price for this excellent sports game and it would make a great gift!

At both stores where the game was OOS I picked up rainchecks for 3 copies. I then grabbed a different game and evoked the substitute policy at the register up front.

At one store, the manager said I was limited to game software that had the same regular price or lower ($39.99). I picked up Sims: Making Magic for about $12. Other great games that are regularly $39.99 that would apply would be Prince of Persia: Sands of Time, Call of Duty (currently on sale for $40 at Target), Tiger Woods 2004, Warcraft III, and Half-Life Platinum Edition. All of these would be roughly $159something after the 63% discount.

At the other store, they didn't limit me to a price limit for the raincheck. I picked up Deus Ex: Invisible War for roughly $20. Unfotunately, a lot of the titles I wanted to buy were out of stock here: Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Prince of Persia, etc...

I'm going back today to pick up some more titles. I see no ethical problem with following the substitution policy written on the raincheck itself.

Good luck!

but i see some people are hiding the product so it is oos
that is as foul as straight up stealing (or worse)
i like them about as much as any retailer (which is to say not at all)
and i got security following me around the store enough as it is, because of roguish people in the past

Because someone put it there by mistake (employee, customer)?

I remember seeing one of Papy's Nascar games at Wal Mart for the same price as one two versions newer, right next to each other.

I agree. As per my post, I won't stoop to that.

Strangely enough, at one of the Targets I was at last night, there was another guy there on the same aisle looking at the software. When I noticed it was OOS he pulled one from behind a stack of some other sports game. I talked to him about the raincheck/substitution policy, and then got the feeling he knew all about it. Turns out he was a Target employee, probably from another store! I think he had hid the last Madden game in the first place! He disappeared with the game and then showed up later without it --- I think he hid it somewhere else in the store! I asked if he was going to take the game (because if not I would buy it so they really would be OOS), and he said he was. So I went ahead and got the raincheck.

Even the store clerk I had give me the raincheck said they had trouble with people hiding games.

People like that should be stoned. >

It's great to jump on the deal if it's legit, but to force a deal out like that? Gotta draw the line some where. *sigh* Abuse.

I agree totally. I feel that if you never had any intention on buying Madden 2004 in the first place then you should leave it alone. I would have probably bought it just because it is below my $20 budget for games.

That's Rise of Nations (a gift) and Max Payne 2 (for me) on the cheap.

For some reason the clerk decided to take info from my driver's licence before making the adjustment. I guess so that I couldn't pick up more rainchecks?

Hmm... Sounds strange. If you were paying cash I don't think they can really ask for more identification/information. I would have asked what they wanted with it.

awesome deal, I got Call of Duty for 14.80. They wouldnt give me Hit and Run because it was already on sale. NBA Live was sold out. Nothing else really appealed to me. Thanks for the great deal. I should have just aked for 20 rainchecks (they gave me 2) but I didnt want to be shady. This deal was to good to ruin.

You know why they are asking for drivers licenses? It is because some odf the games are for "adults" only and they have to verify that you are over 18.....

OK, if they are just checking age. But if they are documenting information about you, then I would wonder what they were trying to do. I would guess a manager was trying to make a report on how many people are using rainchecks. Maybe show that just a few individuals are actually using their raincheck policy.

Ahh, conspiracy theories abound, but the lady who rang me up wasn't a manager, had never seen a substitution on a rain check, and generally wasn't even close enough to intelligent. She flat out told me though that some games require inputting a drivers license for them to be sold.....I asked her ....

Weird. There's a good chance that she took my DL for my age. I'm 22, but I still get carded for R rated movies and video games (the last time I got carded for a game was Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon two years ago). But it's probably some corporate red tape.
