Which means you paid $87 for the drive.
I'll tell you what. For the sake of argument, let's count your $30 gift card. You still paid $100 (and had to give up a $30 gift card) for a drive that everyone else can get for $79. That's no deal, dude.

You're so much better just returning everything to Staples, getting your $30 gift card back and buying the drive for $79 at CompUSA.

Agreed. Plus the 30 dollar GC isnt free, unless you consider a 30 dollar item that you can get for it from staples worthless.

question, anyone double pricematched staples yet on this deal? like pm the bestbuy deal first, and then pm the compusa one or staples own price?

Toddler, the closest CompUSA is over 200 miles from me. The closest fry's is 400 miles from me. I forgot to mention that but this is the best deal I can find in my area.

Im on spring break this week, I am in the Midland/Odessa area. The CompUSA they did have closed down a few months ago.

Dude, your profile says you're in Lubbock, and there is a CompUSA in Lubbock. And two other options come to mind:

(1) Return that drive they gave you and get the "100+20GB" drive, so you can send in for the $40 rebate.
(2) Order from Staples.com and pricematch, like I did.

Either way is better than wasting your money and your $30 gift card for nothing.

Toddler,

Im going to eBay the drive, seem to be going for around $150 and then get another one. So I can make a little off of it. I bought one last week from BB with a $60 MIR and I need another one because I am going to put them in my RAID system.

The closest staples is 50 miles from me. I know, I'm in the middle of fricken no where. If I order from staples then I take a chance on getting the 8mb version. I want to make sure that I have identical drives. They were out of stock of the 100+20gb drives when I was in the "city" yesterday. I will try tomorrow.

Okay, so last week I went online and bought the hard drive and 1 pen for $0.95 cents. Total was 150.93 - 30 Coupon = 120.93 shipped. Now I'm going to use the $40 MIR to bring it down to $80.93. So I look today and I see that the price dropped an additional $10. I call in and see about getting a $10 credit, but the CSR tells me that my order was cancelled for some unknown reason. So she goes ahead and recreates it and asks me if I want to Price match it with something else. I'm stunned for a while because I didn't care to Price match with Comp USA since I don't have a local Staples, but I figure WTF, give it a try. So she goes off and tells me that CompUSA says the item is OUT OF STOCK! WTF? I look, and she's right. But now my order is less thatn $150 because the drive dropped $10. So I order the blank CD-Rs and get rid of the pen. She says the CD-Rs need to charged the full price of 21.95 and then I can get the $10 MIR. So now my total (with taxes) is $142.77. WTF?! I think I got screwed on the CD-Rs and I'm mad because I couldn't get a PM from Staples against CrapUSA.

When will CompUSA get more in stock so I can PM?

**UPDATE**
I called back and got another CSR, she was able to give me the $10 credit to bring the CD-Rs back down to $12.94. After rebates should be $82.77.

I'll bet you ordered something for a quarter and they haven't charged you the last 27 cents (with tax). My two items were charged separately. They both came in, but I haven't gotten the PM to my account yet. I'll give it a couple days, refunds often take longer...

Yes, you can PM to a store, just give them the phone to the store that still has they in stock, but it has to be a store in your area.

I got this drive a couple of week's ago when BB had it for 149-50 Bestbuy MIR. Staples had it for 149, so they PM'd it for ~$94.
Can I use the MIR on this? The shipping date on the invoice is 03-03-03, within the date on the MIR (03-02-03 to 03-29-03)??

7% tax on $30.

It says in this weeks circular that there is a $40 mir for the b&m stores. I went there and bought the drive but they werent able to print out the rebate and they couldnt find it online either. Has anyone seen this rebate? This should be a b&n rebate not the one for staples.com.

Unfortunately the rebate is for Staples.com orders only. I don't believe there is one on B&M purchases. If I were you I'd go buy one at CompUSA and then return it...but hang on to that CompUSA receipt and rebate form, if you know what I mean.

The PM to compUsa was incredibly easy; took all of about 3 minutes. They didn't ask me for any details about the Compusa drive (web address, etc) . I suspect that the Staples CSRs have an internal memo to approve this PM. Hard to beat 120 GB for $60.

There is a B&M rebate, look at the Sunday circular. I think it is $40. $149 - $10 Instant - $40 MIR = $99.

I hate to ask because I always see where people say, "you can find it if you look", but where can I find Staples in store coupons (PM me please)? I assume I have to have a paper coupon in hand to use at a B&M, not just a code, correct? Thanks in advance for any and all help, I am new at this but trying to learn.

Yeah but no one can find a Staples rebate form that doesn't say Staples.com. I bet it's a Maxtor rebate, so it may be on their web site. It's not very clear.

The B&M rebate printed out for me at the register when I bought mine. The offer # is 03-55628 and it's for $40. I looked it up online and it's not there.

Welcome to AT. You should start by reading the forum rules at the thread at the top of the forum. Asking for coupons is a quick way to become persona non grata here.
