I think this deal is dead since, I don't know where you guys are gonna pricematch it to. Compusa's rebates expired on 3/20.
It probably is dead. I just wanted to know of other stores carrying this drive because I got a 2mb cache drive from Staples.com that I'd like to "exchange".

Salvador:
Who else sells this drive? I looked at my BB, CUSA and CC to do an exchange for a 8 mb cache drive. BB only had "L"'s and CC didn't even have it. CUSA only had one hard drive in stock because of their sale. No luck on Staples either. There isn't one within 100 miles of me. Heh.. Forget Fry's too. I only wish. Does OD or OM carry this drive? Am I leaving any other chain stores out?

TIA,

Sal

All it means is that you can identify the 8mb drives by looking at the outside - the P6Y3 are the 8mb, the L6Y3 are the 2mb cache.

lol! i can't believe he actually said that. one thing for sure is Winchester WILL NOT the rebate because of INVALID UPC. but chances others will be getting is much much higher.

arrg, you took two p6y3s, you're lucky man. I'm hoping the last one I ordered is a p6y3 or else I'm gonna have to go to B&M staples and ask the guy to show me every box until I find one.

Seems to me you used $140 in "Gift Checks" on each purchase. Unless they are a "new form of gift check", someone spent that $280, which left you with the equivalent of $280 in cash to spend at Staples.

If you "made" $93 off this deal, it seems to me you spent $187 for these two hard drives.

If this is correct, I can beat it easily.

I have no clue what you just meant by new gift checks or what? Can you explain.

I figured i spend $180 for both hds before rebates. So i have 93 comeing in rebates(hd+cdr). Which means i spend less then $50 per drive plus i didnt spend a dime out of my pocket.

the staples in riverside(tyler), CA had a bunch of p6y3's. that's where i got mine.
hope this helps someone that's looking to exchange.

edit: oh yeah, none of these 100+20gb drives at the bestbuys in moreno valley or riverside. looks like they might not carry them anymore.

Not sure if the deal is still going on but my local CompUSA had 6 out of 7 drives that were the P6Y3 version. I know CompUSA doesnt have a rebate but you can PM or whatever. Seems every store except BB in my area carries mostly the P6Y3 version.

Why the hell were you bitching then when someone suggested you get out of that horrible deal you paid for at Staples and just go buy the drive at CompUSA? You were claiming there's no CompUSA or any other store that carries these drives within 200 miles of your ass. Now all of a sudden, Lubbuck is inundated with these drives?

Lubbock, TX...the P6Y3 capitol of the world!

Edit: Sorry dude, I just noticed you edited your original post to explain that you were on spring break...in ODESSA! Now I feel doubly sorry for you!

he drive is now $149.98...

cant you just add some rubberbands or something...get the price over $150...use the $30 off $150 coupon...comes to ~$120 before tax.
Then the $50 rebate brings it to $70 without tax...(tax for me in PA would be $7.20).....

There's a $50 rebate somewhere?

This thread is for the Staples Maxtor 120GB deal and the price is still "$139.98" until sat. 3-29, if you only look at the a$$ end of every thread you will miss all the info at the beginning of threads and remain clueless to what is going on.

** Update of my deal **
After my bitching and a detailed description of my deal I finally got my drive in today: L6Y3 = 2 MB . I got home and I was upset, but I checked on the web to see if my local CompUSA had it in stock and they did. I drove down there as fast as I could and there were drives, but all of there were the L series, except for 1 that had some of the shrink wrap cut and a gouge on the side like someone was trying to cut it open and steal it. I still bought it because it was the P series. I got home and mimicked the same torn shrink wrap on my Staples box and returned it the same night, tonight. It was no problem, got a full refund at CompUSA. I came home and opened my CompUSA switched box and everything was PERFECT! I have an 8 MB cache drive and went to the Maxtor site to make sure of the warranty: In Warranty - expiration date: 3/28/06, WOO HOO! Hey, I gave CompUSA the exact drive model UNOPENED to them, no foul, sike!

I hope you're not talking to me - whenever I see a MysticMan1 hot deal, I jump on it right away. I was in on this one weeks ago. Just never saw a $50 rebate, and wanted to make sure I didn't miss anything.
