Note, however, that Maxtor-branded ATA retail hard drive kits carry a different Standard Warranty Period. See below for details.
Outside of EMEA, Maxtor-branded retail ATA hard drive kits will carry a Standard Warranty Period of 1 year regardless of capacity or buffer size. Maxtor external hard drives will carry a Standard Warranty Period of 1 year with the exception of the Maxtor Personal Storage 3000LS drive, which has a Standard Warranty Period of 90 days.
The Standard Warranty Period identified above applies to Maxtor branded retail ATA drives unless otherwise indicated by Maxtor on the retail packaging.

A lot of them actually give you double the warranty period. So if it came with 2 years, now you have 4 years.

I guess my Amazon.com Visa card doesn't count. right?
On a side note. this new 120GB HD is so damn quiet. I can barely hear it church unlike my older Maxtor 60gb with 2 meg cache. Does this one have liquid ball bearings or something?
