Jumped in on the online deal $11 in tax, so about $81 after rebate, $.50 per gig And I am in need of a card, my box is full of drives lol! Anyone have experience with these controller cards...any difference in speed than from the mobo?

Bought it online too. Could only find a $20 off coupon. Was hestitant to buy Maxtor cause of their 1 yr warranty but for the price, I need a new drive.

The controller card is made by Promise.

My local bay area staples only had one hard drive 10 minutes after opening so I took it. They took the email coupon that was floating around the internet without hesitation. It was 179 - 30 email coupon - 80 rebate= 69.

Each IDE connection can support two drives. The controller card will support four drives and then you also have the IDE connections on your MOBO. Of course you need to have your power supply support these, too, but that shouldn't be a problem for most.

Long time lurker here...just tried calling staples.com to price match Maxtor 160 with CompUsa, and rep wouldn't match due to different product. CAlled local Staples, and said their price matched staples After rebate, so couldn't get $20 deal to work. I think most of the Staples are on to the ComUsa deal by now.

Someone on FW said this drive may not have the ATA/133 card included. I forgot where someone here on AT said it was included so wonder if anyone who got it at B&M can confirm the card.
