I would think you could easily dispute that. I'm pretty sure you can only be charged what you authorized, even in this case when you've not used their coupons as they wished. Of course, they could then say only one coupon could be used, so you may have to return the drive or face their legal action. I would first dispute the extra charge. I don't think they have a leg to stand on there. At that point, they would probably ask you to return the drive for the entire credit back. If you didn't, I guess they could sue you for it, but the extra charge should be approached differently than the original purchase and whether that was valid. They'll try to say it's one purchase, but if it shows up as two charges...insist (in writing with your paper work), that second charge wasn't authorized.

Gotta make sure you use those one time use credit card numbers for deals like this, and set an amount of a few dollars more than your total order.

I use citibank's virtual account numbers (VAN). Lets you not only set the dollar amount, but expiration date as well.

Number is authorizard for x # of dollars, if merchant attempts to charge over that, its declined.. simple as that.

I received all 3 orders I placed, no additional charges.

With OD's overpriced prices, the $70 just makes them more like regular competitive prices... the discount comes in the form of products with rebates..

Checked my Credit Card statement today (11/12) on-line. Found that Office Depot had charged my card a second time on the day after I ordered the Maxtor drive for an additional $53.50. In other words they took away several of the coupons. Since I did not authorize this charge and have the original receipt from OD that came with the drive showing the $70 coupon I have disputed the charge with my CC company.
Please, check your CC statements and dispute the charge if they try to do that to you. A deal is a deal! They should honor this one and just not make the mistake again of allowing multiple coupons if they don't want us to use them.

"Their Mistake"???

They didn't advertise $25 AR or advertise $70 in coupons. The only mistake made was everyone attempting to defraud OD by stacking unstackable coupons!! (it's like walking up to a malfunctioning Coke machine and getting a free Coke and then proceeding to empty it dry!!)

I'm glad to see OD billback those who defrauded them. I also hope they figure out a way not to honor the rebates.

Coupons are becomming an "endangered species" in retail becasue of all the abuse. (ex: Staples, Dell, Amazon, etc already phasing them out). I'm glad to see a retailer fight back if it keeps hot deals alive.

Unlike the Dell WD fiasco which was truly their mistake, the OD deal was clearly a case of the consumers defrauding/expoiting them due to a loophole in their website.

Seems the "unstackable" coupons were quite stackable. Who's mistake is that?

For those whose credit cards were charged extra, did they also update your online order summary to show the coupons are removed?

If od had canceled the orders before they had been delivered I would have had no problem. It would be no different from a website canceling orders after they list a $200 item for $10. But, for them to go back and charge people after the item has been delivered and they were already charged once is wrong. I would have to think that the practice of billing people with charges that were not authorized is in some way illegal. I would consider that trying to defraud customers.

And yes, it was od's mistake. If the coupons could not be stacked then when the coupon codes were entered it should have stated that the coupons were not combinable.

What are you acting like this? Each time I receive OD's discount e-mail, it never says one coupon per order, non-stackable; sometimes, I received two e-mail -- OD sent me two discount codes, I WILL use both of them, it is normal behavior. They can easily generate one-time use coupon, why didn't they?

I did not jump on this deal because I do not need anything at that moment. OD can at least sends an e-mail to request extra charge, or asks the item back -- they have not done any of "reasonable" things.

The user of the coupon since they all say:

"Special offer is limited to one per customer and is valid for one-time use on delivery-only orders placed online. Valid on in-stock items only. Not valid in conjunction with other offers or on purchases made at Tech Depot by Office Depot."

Just because their system didn't prevent stacking isn't a reason to steal from them by stacking the coupons which is against the T's and C's of their use.

If you forget to lock your house and is gets wiped out is that justification for the burglar to get away with it??

Did I go in their house? They MAILED the item to me. Did I hold a gun to their heads and force them to mail it?

You analogy is incorrect.
How would that be steal?
There IS a system implemented to check after all.
It's like entering a house with security guards guarding the door.
If they can't make sure their system running flawlessly, maybe they shouldn't be doing ecommerce.

well, I called AMEX - described the whole thing in detail - lady says that I definitely will win on a dispute of the additional charge.
