I will update this deal on Sunday.

There are no Fry's in the cleveland area - will staples still do a PM if i order the drive off staples.com and then call in for the PM (referring them to outpost.com)? If so, it would be a 200gb hard drive for ~$115 without rebates..? cool
Sometime Staples doesn't notice that you don't live near the store you are trying to PM, so I would first try to PM to Fry's store, if theCSR says they can't do it, then you can PM to outpost.com but outpost.com's price is $10 higher ($149.99) and unless the CSR forgets they will also add the cost of outpost.com's overnight shipping which is $7.95.

Another update : Fry's stores has continued their sale of the Maxtor 200GB 8MB Hard drive for $139.99 after a $120 MIR, but the $120 Staples rebate has been replaced with a $50 MIR, so starting today (Sunday 6-15), you can have Staples PM Fry's stores after rebate price of $139.99 to Staples rebate price of $249.98. Use a $20 (or $30 coupon if you have one), to save more.

San Diego's Fry's has the same drive for $129.99 after rebate ($249.99 in store with same MIR) so those living w/in 30 miles of the San Diego or the San Marcos stores can get the drive for $10 less (until Tuesday). Price matches >$100 will need corporate approval, which will take a day or two.

Also, if you have at least $20 in Discover Card cash back bonuses you can get a $40 coupon/gift certificate (16-digits) to Staples that is stackable on-line with the current $30 off coupon! However, the base price used to calculate the 2nd coupon gets decreased by $40 so you may need to buy something else to be able to use the $30 off $150 and still get the full price match. (The $20 off $100 should not be a problem.) You can only use one $40 certificate per order and each certificate can only be used once on-line.

The total San Diego price using both coupons is about $77 + tax (actually $57 but you need to "pay" $20 for the $40 coupon). I ordered the drive when there was still a $120 Staples MIR and the price match worked fine using the $40 and $30 off; however, they initially tried to give me the LA/BA Fry's price.

Btw, has anyone received his or her e-bates check from May? I'm starting to doubt I'll ever get the Staples 2% back from e-bates.

This deal is still alive for one more day (the fry's/outpost.com rebate ends the 19th). There is now a 50 off 200 code around, also you can PM to outpost.com if you don't have a local Fry's.

Yea, I wasted a lot of time trying to get this deal that I memorized almost half of the CSR at the ordering center. I was able to get it for 113$ after taxes but it was a hassle.

After calling 10 separate times during the day. I could not get them to PM the after rebate price of Outpost.com seems they have it in their logs to PM to $206 if you mention Outpost. Then I tried getting them to PM to Fry's hoping that this might be a difference, boy did that waste a lot of time since my local Fry's (Manhattan beach in Socal) is extremely busy and no one answers their phone lines. Tried to get 4 different CSRs to call Fry's and all of them gave up after 30 min of trying to get someone to check if the drive was in stock. So long story short I gave up and was about to cancel the order when I saw that someone on the FW forum posted the 50$ off 200 coupon for staples.

PS. I think the nicest staples CSR's were Wendy/Iris. Floe/Sue were very mean I had tried many attempts throughout the day I even got Floe and Sue twice (what luck!).

PPS. I guess I wasn't a smooth talker like some ppl in the FW forum... Even tried to use option 1 and get a less experienced CSR but I guess they were told to transfer any Pricematches to Pros who knock you down.

Did you try the chat function from Staples' website? It is labeld "live tech support". IMO, they are much nicer then the phone CSR's. I placed my order this morning with a $50 coupon. Using chat, I got the drive for less then $90 AR and this is with 7.75% sales tax (Orange County, CA) included.

Thanks I'll try that next time (which won't be anytime soon ). 8.25% tax over here in LA.

Oh yea I remember now why I didn't use chat , for some odd reason I have very bad luck in terms of trying to order online thru Staples.com along with using their chat to resolve the issues. For some reason I got disconnected a few times while chatting with a CSR.

I always order the item first. I use chat only after I got my order confirmation e-mail... The downside is you have to wait couple of days to see if the credit shows up on your credit card.

But I really question myself when I am going to put 200GB of my precious data in one single hard drive. Man I dont know what I am going to do when I lose all of it.

On the other hand I could use it to back up my hundreds of GBs of stuff.

I think at 51cts per GB its prolly pretty good.

I have 4 hard drives in my computer raided. A total of 480gigs I am running out of room.
