(DEAD) MAXTOR 40GB USB 2.0 HD for "$19.94" after 3 rebates & FREE (AR) USB 2.0 Card & Copy Commander App at Staples

(Big YMMV), This deal is not for newbies or the clueless. If you feel the need to ask questions like, If all 3 of the rebates say copies of the UPC code will not be accepted how is this going to work?,
then you can stop reading right now and move on to another deal, this deal is not for you. If you can't afford to pay $90 for this hard drive if only one rebate is is paid, then you can stop reading right now and move on to another deal, this deal is not for you.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
How that I have hopefully scared away the newbies and clueless here's the details :
Update #1

MAXTOR 40GB USB 2.0 Hard Drive (#469898) $149.94
USB 2.0 PCI Adapter Card (#479858) $49.99 - $10 IR = $39.99
V-Com Copy Commander (#491782) $29.99

The deal : MAXTOR 40GB USB 2.0 Hard Drive + USB 2.0 PCI Adapter Card + V-Com Copy Commander = $229.94 - $90 (3 $30 MAXTOR MIRs) - $40 USB 2.0 Card rebate - $30 Copy Commander rebate - $50 off $200 Staples Coupon = $19.99

Update #2The USB 2.0 PCI Adapter Card is still not on-line, so here's how I did the deal :
Bought the MAXTOR 40GB USB 2.0 Hard Drive on-line for $149.94 - 30 off $150 = $120, I then went to a staples store and bought the USB 2.0 PCI Adapter Card for $39.99 and the V-Com Copy Commander software for $29.99 plus $5.02 worth of items to reach $75 then used the $15 off $75 printable staples email coupon = $60. So my total for the hard drive, USB 2.0 card, Copy Commander and the $5.02 item = $180 - $90 (3 $30 MAXTOR MIRs) - $40 USB 2.0 Card rebate - $30 Copy Commander rebate = $20 final cost + taxes.

If the Copy Commander software is back in stock in your area you can also do it this way :
Buy the MAXTOR 40GB USB 2.0 Hard Drive $149.94 and Copy Commander on-line $29.99 = $179.93, add $20.07 worth of items to reach $200 and use the $50 off $200 staples coupon = $150 then go to the store and buy the USB 2.0 PCI Adapter Card for $39.99 and use the $10 off $40 printable staples email coupon = $30. Your total for the hard drive, USB 2.0 card, Copy Commander and the $20.07 items = $180 - $90 (3 $30 MAXTOR MIRs) - $40 USB 2.0 Card rebate - $30 Copy Commander rebate = $20 final cost + taxes.

Here's the 3 rebates, "all" three say copies of the UPC code will not be accepted, all three are RabateHQ.com rebates that go to their Miami center, all 3 have "different offer numbers.

FYI : Just today I called the rebate center because one of my rebate from another Maxtor HD deal that I send in with a "copy" of the UPC code was rejected and got it approved without a problem. (yes, that rebate form also said "copies of the UPC code will not be accepted" and it wasn't accepted, until I called),

For Staples coupons do a search on Google.com key word "Staples coupons"

What did you say to them to have it turned from denied to accepted?

ripped.... from Fat Wallet....

credit should go to lxtz on Fat Wallet, who posted this deal five (5) days ago....

As I previously posted on Fat Wallet about this deal ....

Previously posted on Fat Wallet by ksquare on Dec/01/2002:
I had seen this last week....

This item should go on clearance by the end of the month, closely following in the footsteps of the 80GB 5400RPM external 3000LE, and the 120GB 5400RPM external 3000LE. Staples has been systematically clearancing their Maxtor 5400RPM harddrive line over the last few months.

Sometimes the "art-of-the-deal " requires patience.... :Q :Q :Q :Q

This is the second time in two weeks that Staples has run this "special package". Again, they're trying to move what they can before the external drive is placed on clearance. There are a lot of these units still in stores - most Staples I've been in in the last two-four weeks, have 1-4 of these on-shelf. As stated above, the "art-of-the-deal " requires patience....

I'm quite sure you'll see this item - as well as this "package" - again for this same price before the end of the month....

and he who waits, will most likely get it for free after rebate(s) :Q :Q :Q :Q

Ah, at least NOW I can call up and get my 10 dollars back on the USB 2.0 card. There is a 10 dollar instant savings on this, starting on the 8th.

BTW - the sku is pulled from staples website on the usb 2.0 card....

The SKU for the PCI Card is 479858. Just a hint. You may not have to buy the HD to qualify for the rebate for the PCI Card. I bought this card on the 29th (rebate printed at register, THAT rebate expired on 30th) , and was eligible for the rebate w/o a HD. Unless they changed it for next week, these are totally separate rebates, so....

Find your $10 off $40 Staples coupon, pick up the PCI card and a box of thumb tacks, or something else really cheap. Take to register and make a few bucks depending on your tax.

Now here's where it might get really interesting. When I bought this card the REGULAR price came up as $39.94, so who knows if they might come up at that price PLUS the $10 IR. Also not sure of the 12% off Customer Appreciation Days credit, Dec 6-8, is stackable with coupons or not.

MAXTOR 40GB USB 2.0 Hard Drive (#469898) $159.94 - $90 (3 MIR's) - $30 off $150 Staples Coupon = $29.94

I think that adds up to 39.99 after tax, but the site now shows 149.99 for the price, so that'll bring it down to 29.99

MysticMan1,

I too had one of my maxtor rebates rejected, do you have the number handy to call or is it just 800-staple3?

Good deal, worth it just for the enclosure.

If it's a Staples rebate offer the number to call is "Stalpes rebate center 1-866-737-4933", do not purch in any of the option, just let the recording go on and on until you hear the recording say that a CSR will be with you shortly.

So I guess that means "end-of-the-month" probably comes after the "8th of the month", huh....?

Or is it that since the original poster didn't post it here, you don't owe him/her credit?

What does it matter what forum the deal was originally posted on. The price will be the same tomorrow as it has been since the end of November. The only "deal" in this, is the bundled USB2.0 card - which most of us already got when this exact same deal was available last week *without* the requirement to buy the external drive. Hell, some of us even made $10 on the deal....

So I don't see your point,... and you obviously missed mine....

The USB 2.0 PCI Adapter Card is not on-line and the V-Com Copy Commander is OOS so I just bought the MAXTOR 40GB USB 2.0 Hard Drive on-line and i will go to a Staples store and buy the USB 2.0 PCI Adapter Card ($39.99) and the V-Com Copy Commander ($29.99), add $5.02 worth of items and then use the $15 off $75 Staples in-store printable email coupon to get everything free after rebate and make $10 too.

Thanks, I missed out on this last time.

I pick up the USB 2.0 PCI card for $39.94 at B&M Staples. The $40 rebate printed out at the register without buying the hard drive and the rebate form saids nothing about the hard drive.

Do a BM version of this deal: $130 HD+$40 USB Card, use a $30 off $150 e-mail coupon for $140 out the door. Less $40 USB card rebate, less $30 HD rebate=$70 final price. Even less if you can qualify the other HD rebates.

Anyone figure out which one of the three rebates should get the original UPC and which two should get copies or does it not matter?

Yep, this deal cannot be done as posted, unless Staples.com places the USB card back on their website before the sale expires....

... which invalidates the $50 off $200 deal. :Q

And if the harddrive is purchased in-store to get the coupon (definitely a YMMV since there's [currently] no printed versions of this $50 off $200 coupon), then only two (2) of the three (3) rebates are valid, as promotion 02-50546 requires purchase through Staples.com ....

Damn! I really want that USB card but I live in a small town of only 1 million so the nearest Staples is over 100 miles away. Anyone have any luck ordering the card by phone?

Find a printable Staples $50 off $200 coupon at that other bargains site called tech.........com.

Sorry for misreading my Staples print ad. The $130 price is after rebate. I missed the fine print.
