This is BS... I just got a call from Staples. They said the pulled the drive.

They also said some BS about how it was a promo. I demanded they call my local store and have the manager there accept the $30 off coupon code. Hopefully my local stores will have the drive in.

Staples once again is SUCK.

I ordered mine as soon as the $30 rebate showed up on the website..... and I know they have these in stock.

Dude, they aren't in the business of giving stuff away for free... Pets.com did that for a while and look where they ended up! I know that the whole point of this board is to get stuff as cheap as we can, but Staples is going to fight fire with fire. Take your lumps and come back fighting in the next round, don't whine about how, "Staples refused to give me a $100 drive for free!, I am gonna complain!" If you got in on the deal, great! If not, catch the next one...

Just called Staples....they said they can get the drive out to me within 5-7 days, and they WILL honor the $30 MIR. However, they will NOT honor the $30 off $100 coupon. They said that that coupon code was originally intended for customers that are purchasing items from Staples with their Staples card for the first time. They said the code was leaked out to the bulletin boards

Anywho... they totally S*rewed themselves as it turns out. I received my tool kit ($10.00), I added to get me over the $100 today in the mail. I also received an $18 credit on my credit card as they applied the $30 to the tool kit they shipped. Dumb arsses.

Now I have my new hard drive waiting for me at my local Staples, AND I made Staples.com call the local manager and have him honor the $30 off coupon.

So.... in the end I am getting my hard drive for $30 off (before rebates). I received my tool kit for free.
And I received an $18 credit on my credit card.

It is against the law to pull an item that you advertise.... just because you change your mind on selling it.
I also will not elaborate on that.

You see the old bait n switch still lives on....... its just that it will murder your online business these days.
If you put up an item at a great deal to lure the mainstream buyer...... you may just find that your item is sold out within minutes..... no longer available to mom n pop. AND you just waisted $$$ on advertising.

You want me to feel sorry. I don't. The retail game has changed..... too bad. Figure it out.... or go by the wayside.

I won't tolerate being lied to. Nothing here is wrong or illegal. We only take advantage of THEIR marketing scemes. Times have changed.... and they need to wake up. Until they do..... we will benefit a great deal.

This was actually advertised as an in store special and still is. You can purchase these at the stores. I don't know if the print ads say it is available on line or not but the website site says in-store special.

My status says item not available, and I got in on this at like 2am. They kinda screwed me over cuz I had already used the 30 off coupon before and they called me up to tell me the order wont't go through with the coupon so I had to call them back and use a 20 off 100. The order would've gone through full price if I hadn't contacted them by the next day but I guess in the mean time it didn't get processed and ready to be shipped out. stupid bums.

So that was the purpose of the code. My CSR just accepted it without questions. Otherwise, there would have been a long silence on my end...

If you try to search for the HDD, it gives error message. I hope Staples will honor all the orders prior to them pulling down the link online, because I haven't gotten mine yet.

Like I said.... I received a phone call from Staples today saying that these were NO LONGER AVAILABLE. They have them... trust me. And I am pretty sure I was one of the first to order.

After raising H*ll, I did get Staples to call my local store manager and have him pull one from the back and hold it for me to pick up. Further I had Staples tell my local manager to honor the $30 off coupon (which they did).

I was PO as it is kind of like a car dealership advertising a car..... then when you get down there... they say they don't have it anymore, only you look over his shoulder and there are 10 of them sitting there. Truth be told...... they just decided not to sell them at the price they advertised. In this case they realized the coupon code and the rebates added up to a substantial discount. If they try to tell you that they are no longer available.... raise some serious H*ll with them. Its outright BS.

I did not order a "special"..... I just ordered a hard drive that was shown on their website. A hard drive that I know for a fact that they have available. The only "special" is there happens to be rebates, etc..

I got mine.... but it wasn't pretty.

Out of curiosity, when did you place your order ? I was up late the night before but Staples was late updating their web site. The next morning, we lost power from an ice storm and I didn't get on the net 'til around noon Sunday. I was surprised to see it still in stock, and even more surprised to see it at my door 2 days later. Anyway, I definitely was not one of the first to order. I wonder how they decided who to ship to ?

Got mine today, and sent off a bunch of rebates. It arivved in a huge box with no packing. Couldn't believe it. Anyways, I received a d740x instead of the newer ones but I'm still happy.

I think these are shipped from your local Staples. That can explain why a lot of people were complaining they were out of stock, some people were able to order.

Its not from your local staples, they ship from a warehouse. Staples is suck!! i just called after receiving that stupid message and I tried to make them honor the coupon when I go pick it up in the store (Hmmmm... they have them in stores, why not fulfill orders by transferring?? b/c they just don't do that...) and for all I know he probably didn't even talk to the store manager and tells me that the manager said he wouldn't honor the online coupon code even though I can probably tell them how to punch it in in the register myself. F2 then F4 for online coupon codes.
I ordered mine at 2 freaking AM on sunday too.

Is your serial number a long string of numbers or short string of letters and numbers?

Even Maxtor's rebate site has changed. Only the 120Gb drive is shown with a rebate now.
