I e-mailed the rebate center for each of the $20 rejected rebates and wrote
that they were offered along with the $30 rebate but we obviously had to use
one original UPC for 1 rebate and copies for the others. I received this e-mail from
them making the deal good.

"Thank you for your rebate inquiry. You are a valued Maxtor consumer,
so we are pleased to inform you that we have updated your record as a
one-time courtesy. Your rebate submission is now valid. Please allow
4-6 weeks to receive your rebate. Note that the check is remitted in
the form of a postcard and will not arrive in an envelope."

Just curious, what did you guys submit as part of the UPC? Did you cut out the entire sticker with the UPCs on it? Or did you only cut part of the sticker out that had the UPC on it? Also, would it be ok to just peel the sticker off and not cutout the piece of cardboard box with it? I'm not getting any news back on my rebate so I'm a little worried.

I cut out the entire sticker. As long as you peeled out what they asked, then it should be all good. I got information about my rebate because I fill in the e-mail part when they asked on the rebate so that I can be notified about the rebate. If you didn't, and feel like seeing if they have you in the database, go to www.rebateshq.com and click on Track Your Rebate button and fill in the information under Track By Name.
