One of the $20 rebates is the same one from the Maxtor website. The three rebates from staples all require UPCs but they will sometimes let you get away with copied UPCs. The $30 rebate actually doesn't ask for an original, but the other two $20 rebates do. That is why YMMV.

Good point kcobra. Make sure you get the total to over $110.

Online only.

There is a printable 20 off 100 which would almost give you the same deal.

Ok, so where do you send the original UPC and where do you send the copies? I'm guessing copies go to the 30 dollar rebate since it does not say reproductions will not be accepted and the original will go to one of the 20 dollar rebates, with a copy going to the other and then hoping for a nice CSR that will validate the 20 dollar rebate to where you sent the copy. Somebody please tell me if I'm wrong.

Is there any chance they will reject your rebate if you send in a copy of the UPC even though they didn't ask for the orginal?

How many people have actually been able to do this?

Man, all the newbies.

Staples does have in-store pickups but there is a catch. You have to go to one of those in store kiosks and order from there. Never done it so I do not now anything else about it.

I don't know to which rebate I would send the original UPC to. Like I said YMMV.

Yes there is a chance they will reject your rebate. That is when you get on the phone and have to tell them the story of how it didn't ask for the original UPC.

You can price match Staples stores to the website. Again, this will involve a phone call. Remember to buy something else when you get the drive or the 30off100 will become invalid when you price match the store.

Edit: I have had rebates before were only a copy of the UPC was needed. Remember to keep copies of everything you send in. Rebates can become a hassle at times if you are not persistent.

I don't think they can reject a copy of the UPC if the form doesn't ask for it.

Now they could pull a Disney and change the rules after the fact.

Thanks optoman,

I was hoping for the Office Depot-type of order online, pickup in-store deal where I could use the $30 off code and have the drive this afternoon. Oh well.

there are only 902 of these left. I was typing in 999 quantities to check the stock and see if it would actually accept. it did the first few times. now it says there's a partial quantity availiable and only I can only put 902 in my cart.

All of this "yadda-yadda-yadda" can get very confusing, so I just went ahead and ordered this hard drive with the expectation that I will be able to get the $10 instant rebate price match from the store ad, the $30 off coupon, and the $30 rebate for a net price of $39.99 - which makes this some kind of hot, amazing deal dontcha think?

Having said all of that, I am also going to send in the two $20 rebates, probably with copies of the UPC. I havent really investigated the conditions thoroughly, but I want to make sure I get the $30 rebate so I will probably send in the original UPC with that one. Not positive yet, though.

If I can get one of the $20 rebates, that will be great. If I get two of them, that will be unbelievable. And, if I dont get either of them, $39.99 for a 60 gig hard drive is amazing all by itself. All it will cost me to send in these two $20 rebates are a couple of .37 cent stamps. Not a bad investment methinks!

Thanks very much for this excellent post Need4Deal!!

Dontcha just love these AT forums???:Q

Rebate applies to a Maxtor 60GB 7200RPM Hard Drive Model #L01J060G (SKU 448145)

The one on the site is a ST0156000H as shown
here

The first one has that liquid bearing thing, right?
I guess we could probably exchange it at the store and ask for the instant $10 off.

YMMV = Your Milage May Vary.

BTW, that sku on the rebate matches what's listed on the website so I wouldn't worry about it.

Unless your close to a Staples with old inventory, they've most likely cleared-out of the ST0156000H retail kit some time ago. If your order ships from one of Staples distribution centers, you should receive retail kit #L01J060G.

Not necessarily....

You could receive either an older DX740 ball-bearing drive (J6L3), the newer DX740 fluid-bearing drive (L6L3), or the newest DiamondMaX Plus 9 fluid-bearing drive (L6Y2). Read my next to last post in the following thread (date/time stamp - 10/18/2002 1:17 PM):

Determining "which" DiamondMax Plus harddrive you have, without opening the shrink-wrap....

O.K., just tried this deal online. When I entered coupon codes(30 off 100) and then tried (10 off 50 ), each was rejected. It's saying total must be 150 or more to use either one of these. It's treating the 30 as if it's 30 off 150. WTF???
