It only say to include UPC. Nothing about it being the original. My past experiences would say that a photo copy of the UPC would suffice and maybe phone call later if the rebate is denied. Just keep copies of everything and you should be fine. As always, YMMV.


Edit: I just saw that they put up a pdf file that says original UPC. If you got to www.staplesrebates.com and print the rebate form from there, it is different than the pdf. This one can be tricky.

Yeah you are right, they are different, the non PDF $30 rebate doesnt mention requiring the original UPC.

okay for all of u who are hung up on teh "submit original UPC only" deal....u CAN PHOTOCOPY UPC CODES FOR STAPLES REBATES...IT DOES WORK i've done it a thousand time. All u have to do is call and talk to a CS Rep and they will gladly take care of your little problem so stop crapping the tread with stupid questions like that. Also u can do this in store with the 30 off 100 by just adding the HD to your cart with teh paperclips, gonig to the checkout and entering the coupon code. Then print the page out where it has teh coupon code # and your new total minus the code. I just did it and it worked fine, teh manager was even sympathetic with me cause he can never get the coupons to print out right either. So for the 60 gig HD the total will be my 109.94-$10instant - $30 coupons - $30 MIR - $20 MIR - $20 MIR = FREE. All u have to do is copy the UPC and send it to STAPLES only, not to maxtor it won't work that way.

Hope this helps a little..u can find the 30 off 100 pretty easily by just searching on the chubby wallet site, it's not hard it took me 30 seconds, and i'm a n00b

I know this HD will work because i did the same thing 6 weeks ago with a 40 gig HD that had multiple MIR...i got that one for free also. Staples must like to give away HD's...and if they are i'm more than willing to buy them

And for all the different ways to get a rebate.......print out the rebate form, submit the rebate form on-line, and do this if you dont have a printer........I should have bought a ream of paper with the hard drive what with all the different rebate forms/ways I printed out. Sheesh!

Make sure you don't have a space after either, that confuses it. I can track mine in the order status page.

Also, when I went on, in the little square ad space it had a coupon code for $50 off $500. I always wondered where people got the codes!

1) THERE IS NO BRICK & MORTAR PRINTABLE $30 off $100 coupon for Staples
2) This deal cannot be done in a store because the lack of aforementioned $30 coupon, and double dipping rebates require .com purchase
3) If you do find a PRINTABLE $30 off $100, it's a FRAUDULENT coupon, and you are commiting a felony. A valid $30 off $150 is available.
4) This deal can only be done online or through the phone (1-800-3-STAPLE)
5) If you have already used the $30 off $100 coupon for your account or in association with your rewards card, then you may not use it again (Code *****)
6) If it is Out Of Stock (OOS), then you're out of luck. Or you can try to call in and get one, but that's very variable.
7) Some people who placed the order right after midnight (like myself) have to PM to the current $99.94 price since the website did not update until about 3 AM. Some people even had their orders dropped ie no email confirmation (as was my case, so I reordered around noon)
8) If you are happy with the drive for $70+tax minus $30 rebate just send it in and be content
9) If you're greedy, poor, or whatever you monetary motivation, you can send in a copy of the UPC to the $30 Staple rebate and try 1 or 2 of the $20 rebates with the original and/or copy.
10) Nobody knows what will happen. In the past all 3 rebates were given. Now rebateshq knows about "our shady attempts" and may deny all rebates with UPC copies (as within their legal right - just read the rebate requirements yourself)
11) Best case scenario is you get all 3 rebates, worst is you only get 1 $20 rebate (I guess real worst would be you going to jail for attempted fraud if you try lame stunts like copying UPC onto glossy paper and so forth. Hmmm, save $20 versus $10K legal fee and 3 years in the state prison hehehe)
12) People will b!tch and whine when they don't get their rebate. Others will celebrate their "theft" of a hard drive for free with bragging posts. Thousands will enter, hundreds will win. yada yada yada...
13) When you finally get your rebate in 3 months the rule will be 2GB/$1 and you will wonder why you wasted time cutting a UPC, waking up at 3AM to place on online order, and read my lame post.

There's no space and I've also tried using the link from the email they sent. The email also says
"Order 1 of 1
Pending approval of your order, the following item(s) will be delivered"
