Has anyone seen the adjustment done on their Credit card? Just wondering if they took off the $20.00 off coupon without our knowledge.

Staples doesn't work that way, whatever amount the CSR told you would be credited back to your card that's what you will receive. The adjustment is done at the same time you do the PM, but it takes 2 or more days before the adjustment wil show up on your credit card account.

Thanks just ordered online, and did the PM via email (now on Staples website), and now just sit back and see if they do the PM for me. Last deal I did this week the same way it went through perfectly.

I already have one of these drives, was wondering if setting up two of them in a raid would show any noticeable improvement.
Thanks in advance.

Does anyone know if I can use a Visa debit card in place of a credit card to buy from staples online? I don't have a CC but this has worked in the past for me at other places. Will the PM and everything still work the same?

thanks

I don't see why not. Its basically a bank card where the funds come out of your checking account.

I just did the purchase as advised. The CSR tried real had to convince me she only PMed to the online stores, but relented when I gently insisted I didn't want to do that. "A friend of mine PMed to their local store... I guess it's either a policy change or it's up to the person I talk to..." I think the CSR is told to press but not to refuse.

Thanks go out to MysticMan1.

EDIT: As to the numbers,

$109.98
-$20.00
----------
$89.98
-$59.44 Credit
----------
$30.54 Nice.
+ $7.29 Tax
----------
$37.54 Total cost to me. Now I have a perfect match for my RAID server.

Update : Fry's stores (L. A. area, maybe others) and Outpost.com is selling the Maxtor 80GB 8MB Hard Drive for $49.99 after a $50 MIR, so you can PM to your local Fry's store and pay $23.98 or PM Outpost.com and pay $31.98, (Staples will add $7.95 for Outpost.com cost of overnight shipping) after PM and $20 coupon. The $49.99 price ends Thursday (6-19).

I'm on the phone with them now regarding the outpost.com deal. They're trying to tell me they can only do 1 pricematch per order. But they also tell me they have a 14 day low price guarantee.

heh all they'll give me is $2.05

The supervisor sounds amazed that I requested them to give it back to me. She's like "You really want a credit for Two dollars and five cents?"

I still wonder about the math on this

So my new total is
$36.56
-$2.05
--------
$34.51

Edit: she gave me 10% of the 2.05 + the tax! heh

so now its
$36.56
-$2.36
---------
$34.20

I'd like to, but the $20 for $100 coupon codes I've been trying won't work. I guess it's time to take a pass.

Well, I've definately used this forum before for many a deal, but this has to be one of the best yet.

Just ordered a drive off of staples.com with the $20 coupon.
Called the 1-800-3staples and the CSR gave me the PM.

However, she said that since my item had not shipped yet, that I would not see the immediate PM, but I would on my payment... once the item shipped that is. She also said that she did not know how the 20/100 coupon would hold because the item was no longer $100.

Well, I guess I'll just have to wait and see. Worse comes to worse, I'll pay $40something for a hard drive instead of $30something.

Great work MysticMan,
Looking forward to more deals in the LA area!

Scored one without any problems on the first try for $34.72. Even if the speed isn't significantly faster than my 60GXP, the extra space will still be put to good use now that I have an ISP that doesn't block half of all the newsgroups. Also will come in handy for backups.. I can just move everything I want over to the other drive when I want to format, then just move it back. Thanks MysticMan1 for the great deal. This was my first time taking advantage of a hot deal here... I am beginning to see how people can get addicted to this stuff, heh..

Hey, will someone please PM me the coupon code (for $20 off $100 and/or $10 off 50 at Staples.com). I can't seem to find it on Google.

Thanks.

EDIT: Nevermind, just found it.

great deal, I price matched the first one to my local best buy, with great pain, and patience... but it worked.

the second one is harder, as best buy isn't answering the phone very often, so I'm going with Outpost.com which looks a lot easier.

The CSR said that my credit card had not been charged yet, so she will try in the morning... and I will call and verify.

thanks!

Okay I got on this deal before Frys dropped their prices. So what I wanted to know is can I price match again from Staples?

I purchased the Maxtor drive online, applied a coupon and my subtotal was listed as $89. I then waited an hour, called Staples and asked them to pricematch to Outpost. CSR put me on hold, said they would do the pricematch at 99 dollars to the 49.99 after rebate giving me a total of 44 dollars after the 10% extra for pricematch. Plus $7 for shipping.

The CSR then informed me that my $20 coupon could not be honored because my total had fallen below $100.

Should I cancel? Call back and speak to another rep?

Thoughts?
