CSR put me on hold, said they would do the pricematch at 99 dollars to the 49.99 after rebate giving me a total of 44 dollars after the 10% extra for pricematch. Plus $7 for shipping.

The CSR then informed me that my $20 coupon could not be honored because my total had fallen below $100.

Should I cancel? Call back and speak to another rep?

Thoughts?
What deal are you doing? Are you in the right thread? If you are doing the Maxtor 80GB 8MB Hard Drive PM you did it totally wrong. Go to the initial post and read the "how to" part and do it precise as posted.
If it been more than a hour since you ordered it's to late to cancel. If you didn't complete the PM call back and talk to a different CSR and don't mention the coupon.

YIPPPPEEEE!!!! Got in on another 80gb HD now with the lower PM price to local Frys. Total is $24 + change. I got back $73 and change from the PM. This plus my first HD totals to $76. I think this compares very well to the WD 160gb 8mb cache from OM for $71. TYME TO GO RAID BABY!!!

Do you even need to use two accounts two order two of the drives? Couldn't you just place two separate orders?

this was my first "deal". my first post here too. anyways so initially i bought the harddrive, a toner cartridge and a keyboard(had to make the total over 150).
so the total was $153.37-30 coupon + 10.81 tax == $133.55

i called staples cs 5 minutes after placing the order, gave them local frys number and in 5 minutes got the pricematch. credit =$ 71.43.
so the total cost was $ 62.12.

ok so my question was how am i gonna be charged. so they are gonna charge 133.55 in the beginning and then instantly give me credit or is it gonna be done some other way. thx for ur help.

This question has been answered, but in case you missed it: You will be charged 133.55 and then several days later (it took two for me) they will credit your account the $62.12

I thought I did the deal in this thread, except instead of BestBuy I chose the Outpost.com option. I didn't think it would matter if I purchased the drive online through Staples.com.

Update : Fry's stores (L. A. area, maybe others) and Outpost.com is selling the Maxtor 80GB 8MB Hard Drive for $49.99 after a $50 MIR, so you can PM to your local Fry's store and pay $23.98 or PM Outpost.com and pay $31.98, (Staples will add $7.95 for Outpost.com cost of overnight shipping) after PM and $20 coupon. The $49.99 price ends Thursday (6-19).

So they did PM to the 49.99 and then took off an extra 10%. Everything was grand at that point, until the CSR said out loud "Let me look at the rest of the order before I finalize. Oh, you entered a coupon. Let's see *types coupon code on her keyboard* I'm sorry, but you won't be able to use that coupon unless you purchase enough products to reach $100"

Everything worked like your original instructions except for the part where the CSR said my coupon code could no longer be used. Did I happen to just run into a CSR who pays extra attention to her job?

The time for me to renew my subscription to anandtech is fast approaching.
I've spent $63.47 for two of these Maxtors.
Now that I've saved so much buying these drives do you think I will hesitate to renew?

Cheers, all.

For those thinking of buying two of the drives on one order don't do it. I did serveral searches on this forum and on chunky billfold. Staples CSR would only PM one drive and thats it. I basically used my account and my bros account to get in on the deal. It worked like a charm. I was going to get the 160gb HD but reading the postings people put it was a long process. I believe this deal was the the easiest *IMO* and without any MIR. MysticMan1 you da bomb man. Keep up the great deals. I got my HDs now seeing if I can get a great deal on video card, mem, cpu and mb.

Johnbear - Bite the bullet and just call. It only takes less then 10min to finalize everything. While e-mail takes some time. And if your impatient like me waiting 5min before to PM at staples was a long time.

well,

they linked my two orders and are only going to pricematch one...

can I just refuse the order (the one at 97$) at delivery and pay nothing for that order?

Forgive me if I am ignorant, but I have never done this before, and it just so happens that I bought an 80gig with the rebate from Bestbuy today for $59.99 or something similar, but I have to wait for the $50 in rebates. Can I go to staples with my reciept and have them sell me a drive for $50, and then take the one I bought at Bestbuy back? Is that how pricematching works? I have never done it before. Like I said, I just happened to get this drive today because I was going to buy a drive somewhere, as long as it had some type of rebate. It would be a hell of a lot better if I could get it without having to wait for the $50 in rebates though. Please inform my ignorance. BTW, they also have the 160gig at bestbuy for $99.99 after rebates if anyone is interested.

Hmmm, I placed an order and called the CSR and she said that since I haven't been billed yet, she couldn't credit me anything back and to call back tomorrow and she'd honor the price match. Unlucky me...hope I can still cancel if things don't work out.

John Paul - First off is it opened? If no do a return. Then just order online from staples.com use the $20 off $100 coupon. Then wait 10min call 1-800-3staple and ask the CSR to PM to either a local Frys *they asked me for their number, and make sure that your local frys has it in stock* or you can pm to outpost.com. If you PM to outpost.com you pay extra $10 because of shipping and such. Price Matching is basically a store giving you the difference of the lower price. If your drive is opened I think you can still PM to BB with a reciept. I think they have a 15 day price match guarantee.

Have I been suckered?

I purchased and pricematched my hard drive on 6/16. Just got my hard drive today 6/18. I placed the charge on my Capital One card and looked it up online right now.

I have a charge for $116.58 (placed on 6/16) and then a refund for $10.00 (placed on 6/16 also). When I called to pricematch my online order I also had him do a $10 off coupon, which I assume is the $10. But where's my pricematch?? I think I'll call them up today.

cpals - From what I've heard once you get your drive it takes about 2-3 days after for them to credit it to your card. Have patients my friend.

Are these things still in stock? I placed an order yesterday (got it pricematched properly) and the confirmation still says it's processing. When do we find out if we got it?

Alright, I just saw the $10 credit and wondered why if that showed up nothing else did. I might call just to double check.
