* Be careful, the first CSR told me she was going to pricematch, when I got home my answering machine had a message from staples that they could only drop the price by $17.00 and that I should call if I wanted to cancel.

I then called back and another CSR straightened it for me. The CSR said "their is some confusion on this deal". Whatever...

The CSR said 2 weeks for the credit.
Why so long? they charged my card prior to shipping...why should they not be able to put the credit immediately on?!?

Can anyone tell me how long it took for the credit to their charge card?

Update on Thursday night 06-19-03

No Joy I'm afraid. Staples website now informs me that my order is cancelled due to being "out of stock". (Yeah right!) Anyone else getting this? My original order was placed on Wendsday night.

Ordered from Staples.com last night with a $20 off $100 code. Called them this morning with the price match request. No problem, except I was on hold for awhile while they called my local Fry's. $71.43 will be credited back to me making my final cost $25.97 with taxes included. Delivery scheduled for tomorrow. I cannot get through to Fry's to ask them the price. I called the Fountain Valley store yesterday and couldn't get a price and she said she'd call me back in a half hour. Never got called. Just now I tried again and nobody even picks up. Can anyone help me confirm their price?

Idle noises are very low; however, there's a slapping sound whenever there's a search. I believe this can be reduced by changing the mode from performance (default) to quiet via software. It's much quieter than the WD JB drives (very annoying high pitch whine) but not as quiet as the Barracuda IV.

esun - If calling your B&M is a hassle just PM to outpost.com you pay a bit more because of shipping charges but its still cheaper at $34.98.

How are you guys getting it for ~$23. Staples is charging 7.95 shipping because the order is less than 50 bucks. I spoke with 2 different supervisors and they won't budge on this.

I finally got one to go through. Got credited back $71 (approx.), but now I'm working on the second. The first lady I think just took my word for it, but this other CSR seems older and actually wants to call Fry's, which she is doing right now...hope it goes through as well. If worst comes to worse, I can PM outpost, but I really want to PM Fry's.

EDIT: Argh this lady actually knows what she's doing. She PM'd Fry's at $49.99 but is removing the $20 off $100 coupon. Ah well, even so two of these for $80 still ain't bad.

It sounds like you are trying to PM before you place your order or you are PM'ing to Outpost.com. To get it for around $23.98 you have to order online using a $20 coupon "then" PM to a Fry's store.

Read the "how to" info in the initial post.

Ahhh I'm pricematching after I placed the order. I got it with the bestbuy deal first and called again and got an additional 2.35 off. Will they pricematch to a frys store even if there isn't one in my area? If not, I'll have my friend pick up a few for me.

I did this deal 4 times - 2 with best buy and 2 with outpost.com (since I live in ohio and have no fry's) - The outpost.com deal gave me credits of 61.25 making my 2 (separate orders) hard drives cost 35.03 (with tax) \

I just had to get in on this. Called the local Bestbuy but they were out of stock so I decided to go the outpost.com route. Ordered online, applied the $20 coupon and then followed up with customer service.

Delivered price: $30.18

Well, ordered my hard drive yesterday, it showed up on my doorstep today.

Just so you know, on the invoice, the $20 coupon DID, in fact, go through.
Now.. just to wait on the Price Match..

I just pricematched my order via phone to Fry's and the CSR told me that the total I bought the hard drive for was $109, so I'm wondering did he take the coupon off or was the coupon never applied without me getting an error message or is he completely oblivious to the fact that I used a coupon and will the coupon kick in later? I hope I did this correctly, and if not, I guess $43 for 80 GB isn't too shabby as well. But I'd love to know if the coupon code worked for me or not. I got $65.99 refunded. w00t.

oh, btw, I made NO mention of the coupon code to the CSR if that makes a difference.
